Francis Preve has released Xfer Serum Preset Pack (Winter 2017), a free collection of Xfer Serum presets designed by Austin Community College students.
The soundbank contains 25 presets for the popular Serum virtual synthesizer by Xfer Records. The presets were submitted by Austin Community College students who attended the Synthesis 2 course. Francis Preve selected the best presets and shared them on his website with the students’ permission. Each preset is signed with the name of the student who created it.
As a little holiday bonus, Francis added a couple of presets which are based on wavetables created from snowflake and Christmas tree graphics. Of course, the holidays have passed and we were a bit late to publish the news about the soundbank, but these presets still are very fun to look at (check out the screenshot at the top of this page to see one of them in action). :)
As for the “main” part of the content, the presets cover a range of modern lead sounds and some classic pads, basses, and lead sounds. They’re a good addition to any Serum user’s arsenal, so definitely grab this freebie if you own Xfer’s excellent virtual synthesizer. The presets can be downloaded directly from the product page linked below, no signup required. To install the presets, click the Menu button in Serum and choose “Show Serum presets folder” option. Then simply extract the downloaded archive to that folder. You might also be interested in checking out the Symplesound website where Francis Preve publishes samples and presets.
