Premier Sound Factory Releases FREE Wurly Premier G (Kontakt)

Premier Sound Factory has introduced Wurly Premier G, a freely downloadable Wurlitzer electric piano sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Wurly Premier G requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt to function properly. It will only produce sound for fifteen minutes at a time before the demo limitation of the freeware Kontakt Player plugin kicks in. The samples are provided in Kontakt’s proprietary NCW format, meaning that you won’t be able to use this instrument in any other sampler.

Compatibility limitations aside, Wurly Premier G is a great little Wurlitzer sample library for the price. It features up to five velocity layers per sampled note, along with two different release noises. More importantly, the samples sound very authentic, capturing the natural room sound and the imperfections of the sampled instrument. The team at Premier Sound Factory decided to keep the samples raw on purpose, allowing the user to clean up the sound if required. In its raw form, Wurly Premier G packs more character than many other Wurlitzer sample libraries I’ve played around with in the past.

As for the user interface, it features a tremolo effect, a wah-wah pedal emulation which can be controlled via MIDI, and a reverb module with adjustable volume. The wah-wah on/off keyswitch corresponds to the D0 note and the pedal control can be assigned to a MIDI parameter for more convenient live performance. The tremolo effect intensity is assigned to the modulation wheel (CC0) by default. The reverb module features seven different reverb modes, ranging from small recording room ambiances to huge spaces.

On a related note, Premier Sound Factory has also released Clavi Premier G ($19), an updated version of their previously available clavinet sample library for NI Kontakt. The new product features an improved user interface with additional effects and controls.
