FananTeam has introduced Brassinematic, a virtual synthesizer designed for recreating the sounds of orchestral brass instruments. The software was developed using FlowStone and is compatible with digital audio workstations on Windows which are capable of hosting 64-bit VST plugins.
Brassinematic is a simple software synthesizer which emulates four different brass instruments: baritone saxophone, french horn, trombone, and trumpet. The instruments can be mixed together depending on the type of sound the user is looking for. Each instrument can be edited individually in the advanced settings menu, which hosts separate controls for filter cutoff and resonance, volume and filter envelopes, and several other parameters. The user can also adjust the keyboard range split, modulation wheel assignments, global high-pass and low-pass filter cutoff, as well as the instrument’s response to input velocity.
The instrument editing panel is followed by Brassinematic’s set of built-in audio effects. There are eight different effects included (saturation, delay, chorus, reverb, compressor, EQ, phaser, and tremolo), each with individual FX control parameters. The effects are applied globally and can’t be assigned to individual instruments. Overall, the user interface is well-designed and easy to use although it does look somewhat outdated.
Brassinematic delivers the type of brass sound you’d expect to hear from a standard brass instrument patch on a subtractive synthesizer. It doesn’t sound like a real brass ensemble but rather like the classic synthesized brass sound. With that in mind, users who already own and know how to operate a subtractive synthesizer won’t really find anything new in Brassinematic. On the other hand, music producers and composers who don’t know how to program synthesizers might find this particular plugin useful as a quick and easy way to add some brass sounds to their project.
The download process is simple but it does require you to register for a FananTeam user account. To grab your free copy of Brassinematic, visit the product page linked below, click the Download button in the top menu, complete the registration process and download the Fanan Team Pack file. Once the downloaded archive is extracted, you’ll be able to access the plugin file. The download also contains four other plugins developed by the same company.
Brassinematic is available for free download via FananTeam (75.7 MB download size, RAR archive, 64-bit VST plugin format for Windows).
