2B Shaped Filter is a multi-mode filter effect with modulation capabilities, somewhat similar to the TAL-Filter-3 (freeware) plugin we covered recently.

The filter cutoff can be modulated internally via a freely editable LFO. The LFO module comes with a selection of standard curve shapes (sine, saw, etc.), but the user can freely customize the modulation curve using the onboard spline editor. You can build the modulation shapes from scratch or edit the ones that are included with the plugin.
Filter modulation is not the only thing you can do with 2B Shaped Filter. The plugin also lets you automate the volume, a technique that works quite well for emulating the “pumping” sound of side-chain compression.
The effect is available in VST and AU plugin formats for compatible digital audio workstations on Windows and macOS. Only 64-bit plugin hosts are supported.

onIt’s only 64 bit. Maybe on a 64 bit XP version. I am on Windows 7 x64 with no plans to upgrade and developers are being to drop support for my OS.

May 2021 has Carve EQ and December 2020 has Slice EQ if you want to check it out – in my eyes Slice EQ is a worthy contender against Fabfilter Pro-Q for someone like me, who currently can’t afford Fabfilter stuff ;-).
One caveat: I don’t know if there were limited license keys available, they might be already gone. But for a few bucks it’s worth a shot.
