Until the 20th you can get 50% off Pitch Monster By Devious Machines at VSTBuzz.

Pitch Monster is one of the more expansive pitch shifters that I have come across in a long time. It’s a secret weapon for warping vocals, bending synthesizers, and reshaping any piece of audio into something new and exciting.

At its core, Pitch Monster is powered by a vocoder, but it has a lot more than that to offer. It is a versatile sound warping device that centers around pitch shifting.

Let’s take a quick look at Pitch Monster’s processing modes.

Granular Mode

DAWs don’t usually produce the exact timbres that most of us need for accurate transposition when pitch shifting. This is the situation where Pitch Monster shines.

The standard granular mode is supposed to give you the same, or better, pitch-shifting than most DAWs, but it’s by no means as excessively grainy compared to stock devices.

Formant Mode

Formant Mode is one of Pitch Monster’s strongest features. The mode makes for astoundingly organic sound pitch shifting. It’s just perfect for moving vocals around on the register without any harsh or abrasive transient shaping.

With the simple tweak of the formant knob, your males will sound like males, your females like females – and the rest is up to you.

Vocoder Mode

This is my favorite mode on Pitch Monster. The robotic tones generated here are simply lush and don’t have the cheesy digital textures you find on a lot of other vocoders.

Fans of Daft Punk, Kraftwerk, or more modern production like Bon Iver should be well pleased with the tones you get from Pitch Monster.

Pitch Monster – A Pitch Shifter On Steroids

Users can layer their audio with up to 64 voices using the unison knob. You can also use the Pitch Spread and Time Spread controls to widen and thicken your layers or add some spacey modulation.

There’s even a filter to help you enhance or cut certain areas of EQ for cleaner processing.

Every element of the GUI on Pitch Monster is wonderfully easy to navigate and control. Even beginner producers should be able to understand its fundamentals within an hour or two of usage.

I’ve always been a big fan of the device that Devious Machines released. They’re CPU-friendly, straightforward, and seldom underwhelming. If you love treating vocal takes with bright and warm pitch shifting, I highly recommend Pitch Monster.

Pitch Monster is available in VST2, VST3, AudioUnit, and Protools 64-bit AAX formats. The device works in Windows 7 and higher, and macOS 10.7 or higher.

  1. Thanks for the heads up! I had my eyes on Pitch Monster for quite a while but find it a bit pricy. Finally decided to buy it yesterday at 50% off. It’s a great tool to manipulate the voice.

On a similar note, VocalSynth 2 by iZotope is on now sale at Plugin Boutique for $49 US – a good chance to pick up their monthly freebie Freak by NI as I also did. They are both perfect for my current project.
