iZotope releases Audiolens ($100 value), a track-referencing desktop application capable of analyzing audio from any streaming platform or audio source. The software is available for FREE until November 22nd, 2022.
Audiolens will help you build a library of reference tracks you can use while mixing or mastering. It is a standalone desktop application that works exclusively with iZotope’s popular Ozone 10 and Neutron 4 plugins.
iZotope offers Audiolens as a free download for a limited time, so you should hurry up and grab your free license while it’s still available. The free download offer ends on November 22nd. Your free Audiolens license will be permanently stored in your iZotope user account.
Audiolens can analyze the audio from any streaming platform or local audio source (your locally stored audio files). It’s easy to set up. Simply select the audio output for Audiolens to analyze, play the music, and the software will start collecting the information.
You can use the collected reference track information for comparison while mixing and mastering your music. Audiolens lets you save your favorite reference tracks for later use.
Watch the walkthrough video below for more information on incorporating Audiolens into your music production workflow.
Using reference tracks is crucial while mixing, and Audiolens simplifies this process by making it more visual and providing easy-to-understand data.
Here’s more information about Audiolens:
“The new Audiolens desktop app makes track referencing and comparison easy by analyzing audio from any streaming platform or audio source. Play your chosen audio through the selected output of your device, and the application will collect data on key sonic characteristics, helping you to visualize, compare, and match your favorite reference tracks and sounds.”
If you’re interested in using Audiolens with iZotope’s Neutron 4 and Ozone 10 software, check out the current iZotope sale at Plugin Boutique.
Audiolens is available as a standalone application for macOS and Windows.

onThanks to BPB readers Aris, Stef, Lars D., and Soroosh M. for the info about Audiolens!
Vik
onIf iZotope made Iris 2, BreakTweaker, Trash 2 plugins open source, it would be much more interesting. Now that would be an event!
Cool WAV
onCool WAV has updated the free plugin Simple Console to version 1.1 with a new GUI design. Also, the filters now adjust by 1hz at a time instead of 0.1hz.

Thanks BPB!

oninteresting. thanks for this. i went to izotope page, and it downloaded the software right away (was expecting a normal checkout process). is it better to keep the installer, or download through PB for future updates?

onI think the most convenient option is to use iZotope Product Portal. Makes even more sense, if you have some other plugins from this developer. I added Audiolens to my account and it immediately appeared in Product Portal. Whichever plugin needs an update is always clearly marked.
Robin
onIt appears Izotope have taken a key component from the new versions of Neutron 4 and Ozone 10 and made it a ‘free’ standalone, with no real use on its own, to entice folk to buy the latest version of Neutron and/or Ozone. Or am I missing something?
Dirk
onnot working with Ozone 9
Mike
onI was hoping Ozone 9 Advanced would be able to make use of it. Downloaded anyway just to try it myself.
Dirk
onNo only with 10, I opened the preset with Ozone 9 Advanced by open with it opens the Reference Targets, but just just Eq and Maximizer. When I use Ozone 9 Advanced Master Assistant it sounds much better

onThis app seems pretty straightforward. It has a very neat feature with frequency band matching. Seems innovative. It may be very useful or very frustrating, depending on what one expects from it. Some users may try to match the reference curve without paying enough attention to the sound. Nowadays I try to mix with as little visual queues as possible. That way I get much better results.

onAudiolens is useless on its own.
The description above is misleading: It is a standalone desktop application that CAN ALSO work with iZotope’s popular Ozone 10 and Neutron 4 plugins.
An accurate description would be: It is a standalone desktop application that works with iZotope’s popular Ozone 10 and Neutron 4 plugins.

onThanks for the suggestion. I updated the article as suggested.

onwas just now looking into this, i guess you are correct. the standalone app is just needed to create the “profile” (or however they call it). to actually be able to use it in a daw, one needs ozone 10 or neutron 4.
i guess still worth grabbing, assuming at least the elements version of either of them becomes free at some point (as it was previously with 9 & 3)
ASJ
onI don’t believe the AI assistant will ever be available in Ozone intro or Neutron intro aka the occasional iZotope freebies
