Bedroom Producers Blog is pleased to announce that our readers can get a free copy of Beat Magazine issue 216, plus the included software freebies, which are the Cherry Audio PS-20 synth ($29) and Overloud Gem Mod modulation plugin ($99).
The bundled software is available while stock lasts (approx. 1,500 free licenses for PS-20 and Gem Mod plugins are still available).
This exclusive freebie from BPB and Beat Magazine also includes an additional 14 GB of samples, sounds, instruments, and plug-ins. There is no stock limitation for the bundled samples.
Cherry Audio PS-20
Cherry Audio describes the PS-20 virtual instrument as “an ultra-realistic, polyphonic, hot-rodded tribute to Korg’s renowned MS-20.”
The developer described the appeal of the original hardware synth, saying, “With its aggressive but charismatic sound, Korg‘s MS-20 has written music history. Dance greats such as The Chemical Brothers, Mr. Oizo, Aphex Twin, The Prodigy, and Röyksopp swear by this mono synth.”
Cherry Audio’s $29 virtual model of the synth is a macOS and Windows release available for AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats.
The Cherry Audio PS-20 has 16-voice polyphony with random voice panning available, “super accurate” modeling of classic MS-style highpass and lowpass filters, and a three-channel, eight-step sequencer with 1/2-step quantizer and tempo sync.
Cherry Audio has also included 320 presets, a single-key chord memory mode as well as an expanded and simplified full-function patch panel.
Overloud Gem Mod
Overloud’s Gem Mod plugin simulates Roland’s classic Dimension D modulation unit, which originally dropped in 1978, as well as adding new features.
Gem Mod is also currently free on the Overloud website in limited numbers, but when their promotion ends, the plugin will be priced at $99.
Overloud states that Gem Mod offers “Hyper-realistic simulation of the original unit thanks to the 4th generation DSP technology.”
The plugin features all the modes from the original hardware unit, and the input stage saturation control offers “super musical harmonic generation.”
Furthermore, the LFO shapes can be customized, you can sync the modulation to BPM and the plugin runs on a light CPU footprint.
BPB readers can access Beat Magazine issue 216, plus the included software freebies mentioned in this article by signing up to the Beat Magazine mailing list at the link below.

onWhat is the answer to “Please enter the second word of the big headline on page 79” and “Please enter the second word of the big headline on page 82” ? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, just trying to get the serial numbers for these free plugins
Filian
onTry another email. I had the same problem and I’ve got it solved by putting another email.
Tomislav Zlatic
onThe idea is to download the magazine and then read it to answer those questions. :)
Chris
onI did. the answers are not clear. I managed to get to the point of trying to get the serials, which meant I had to answer a previous question.
Chris
onconfirming that this did not work with my email address, and had to use an alternative one to get the serial numbers. the issue wasn’t the answers to the questions but an issue with the email not being recognized
Sly-J
onmake sure you’ve selected the correct issue, 216
adrian
onworked but there is no PS 20s anymore. (P.S. unbeknownst to me i already had all that stuff lol)
Jim
onI just got the Cherry Audio PS-20. The process to obtain it is a bit tedious but in the end it’s possible. I must thank immensely to BPB for making conceivable all the amazing plu-ins totally free.
Mike Benson
onThank you. Worked flawlessly here. Downloading now
Bryan
onThanks.
Just did the process.
The Aura
onThank you BPB!!
Onon
onRegistration went smoothly. Confirmation also came promptly. Unfortunately, I can’t download the magazine. The download stops at 1.02k and of course cannot be opened. Does anyone have any ideas?
sean
oni am at a loss. tried another email and all combinations of answers for the two headlines. i just emailed them and asked for help. so close to the serials i can taste them.
Joe
onSame probloem here! None of the words work…
Joe
onAn update with the solution to my problem – on the serialcentre webpage there is a drop-down menu where you need to select issue #216 01-2024. I was trying to input words from the most current issue which is selected by default. All working now.
Naiman
onSame problem here!
Igor
onThank you so much (:
The Aura
onThanks for the gift. I did not receive an email after entering my details and clicking on the availability says “Error establishing a database connection”
AP38
onSame error here. I will read the magazine/PDF tomorrow, but I presume the weight of traffic is causing the database connection error and it will mean that PS-20 is no longer available.
Steve
onAlso getting the “Error establishing a database connection” message.
cell
onwhere do i go to register hall of fame 3 ?
JJ
onThanks BPB and Beat. o/
The download server is apparently melting with occasional “error establishing a database connection” :D
red_nagual
onThanks for an excellent gyft, BPB
sa,
onanybody got “Error establishing a database connection” when confirming email?
Mori Frik
oni got this message too. And don’t know how to solve it
alex
onOK, I got the Cherry Audio PS-20 from their website, that was easy, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to access Beat Magazine exclusive plugs I now have licenses for.
Bob Law
onI’ve managed to get through all the connection hurdles and download shenanigans, and got the Cherry Audio PS-20 and Overloud Gem Mod registrations!
Numanoid
onIt is almost unbelievable to read all the comments about people having trouble to get the serial !?
A typical example of why any vendor think twice about giving anything away free, as they face a sh*tstorm of stupid questions.
Even a stupid user like me understand that you need to have the mag downloaded first, then you go to serialcenter and use the mag to answer the questions about getting the information needed
A hidden gem of any Beat mag is the Zampler library, and use the mag to get the needed info to access the Bit ly storage
Sean
onwhatever buddy. did all that. the problems aren’t on my fkn end
Numanoid
onBeat has had much problems with fake emails, as is stated on serialcenter, users need to follow their guidelines:
“Gmail users please add software@beat.de to your address book to prevent mails getting marked as spam. Fake or one-time mail accounts will be deleted, the used hosts blocked for future registrations and the corresponding licenses be marked illegal. If you have trouble registering your real mail, please get in touch at redaktion@beat.de, we will help asap”
Tuuli
onYes, the database and even the webserver are having trouble keeping up.
I got a webserver error in confirming my email address for the access keys (I forget.. maybe Database Error – in classic apache server error font). I’m repeatedly getting “Error establishing a database connection” as I click the download links. But eventually it’s all working. I’m also just trying to download a few at a time so if the whole thing goes down I know where to restart.
If you get errors such as “Error establishing a database connection”, reload the page – for me it’s working after the first or 2nd refresh usually. Just takes some patience to retry.
Numanoid
onRead the small print at the bottom of serialcenter, that can be a reason for the problems:
“Fake or one-time mail accounts will be deleted, the used hosts blocked for future registrations and the corresponding licenses be marked illegal”
Numanoid
onWhen I bought the mag back in December last year, it worked fine for me, I got the licenses delivered in seconds to my Gmail.
That is my experience with every Beat Mag I buy
Tuuli
onThanks! Your experience in a low-volume is good to hear about, I’m sure that usually the current problems don’t exist.
However currently with the giveaway the servers and database are getting overloaded. The solution is to refresh. I will also add that spamming the refresh button to get it to work is probably NOT the solution and will just slow down the process for everyone – the issue is high traffic, so making a bunch of failed traffic isn’t helping. So if you are refreshing, do it every minute or so until it works.
The database and server errors have nothing to do with fraudulent accounts. Though it’s another good note, for anyone who is using one-time accounts!
I do appreciate the giveaway though, the magazine is really interesting and the downloads look very useful. New fan here, I wouldnt have found BPB or Beats today without it.
Naiman
onNot worked!
Naiman
onError establishing a database connection
alex
onI made it to a second step … once …. and then “Error establishing a database connection” … This will never work ….
alex
onAnd now I’ve reached the downloads … that don’t work …. ^$%#$!@#$@#*&%^$%&^
alex
onWell, it really takes time and patience …. and patience I lost for a moment ://) Works now :)
Slownirik
onHello BPB team, thanks you for all your free pluggins and news ;) Greetings, have a nice week. Paul Soutou aka Slownirik (Beats)
wilson
onUse a non gmail mail, I have used a hotmail one entering directly at serialcenter.de and I received the licenses from there. You may answer questions
al
onstrange and convoluted process with a lot of database connection errors, but got the plugins working eventually. Not sure how the arbitrarily complicated process benefits anyone but at least it worked after some repeated attempts
very cool plugins however
P. Meteor
onI downloaded the magazine successfully, but am getting the database connection error when I try to download the plugins.
Also, I got a welcome email from Beat with a downloadable “freebie pack” that appears to have a plugin, some samples and another issue of the magazine, which is nice… but I get the same database error when I try to download it.
loki
onthere are no more licenses for cherry audio ps-20 which was all i really wanted but i was able to get gem mod and a couple other things
Steve
onSame here, unfortunately. I already had GEM Mod, and I’d forgotten about it because I never use it. The rest of the plug-ins might be useful, but most are cut-down versions of the “real” version, or v1.0. (To Beat Magazine’s credit, the limited versions of plug-ins they offer usually aren’t as severely limited as Computer Music’s versions.)
Jan W.
onnext time you better make sure that “database” won’t crash for like 1 out of 2 users…
LAME,
BEAT mag *downvote
MRG
onInstructions not clear, mouse pointer stuck in PDF… Ah no, wait, it’s working.
Was able to get up to the ‘database connection’ error thingy. I’ll try in a few minutes and see what comes out of this. :D
Chris s
onGot to the “2nd word of page 49” part and it just says error no matter what I input. I’ve had trouble with these before with my subscriptions but this one seems to be unusually finicky…
The Aura
onWebsite is functioning normally now. They did run out of the licenses before but they have sent me an email that they have restocked! Appreciate Marco Scherer from Beat Magazine for letting everyone know!
When the security question asks for the second word of the title, look for the LARGEST font sized headline and that will be the answer. If you can produce music, this shouldn’t be a barrier! Good luck!! :P
MRG
onAre you saying that all ‘musicians’ are able to read?
(X) DOUBT
The Aura
onIn fact, these gift are for BPB read-ers? :D
MRG
onSometimes the eyes are working, but the brainmeat doesn’t. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
James
onLots of connection errors but got it all eventually.
Tianzii
onThanks! Reading the magazine RN! Got the PS-20! Thanks BPB!
Sonny Styles
onWhy am I not getting it? It wants me to download the dang Magazine and I did. Tells me to go to page 9 of the magazine and i do. There’s nothing telling me what I’m supposed to do. It’s mad aggy. I just want to get the license before they’re gone and I’m being given a hard time with all this bs errors or lack of info telling me what to do. Or maybe I’m maybe I’m overlooking a step
Dorn
onLame… no ps-20 available 😕
Stranger Alien
onIt is available, I just redeemed it.
Sean
onI am in communication with them now via email over this issue. Already downloaded everything yesterday. Then, got stuck on the serial step. My email was whitelisted but I am still getting an “answers wrong” when I try to obtain the serials. Sheesh. I hope to resolve this asap as it is becoming unnerving.
Sonny Styles
onI finally got the Cherry Synth but having a very hard time figuring out how to redeem the Gem Mod. I go on overloud to redeem it and I don’t see this specific item at all. I went to the site because I can’t seem to figure out how to get it on this Beat site. it says to go to the downloads. I did over and over. There is no option there for me to redeem anything. Or to download anything. This is ridiculously difficult for no reason.
alex
onYou gotta download the BE installer and go from there. With a little (or a lot of patience), you’re gonna get it. There’s no way around it.
Wing Yee
onThanks BPB!
Tuuli
onHeyas, does anyone know how to find out the license and rights for the giveaway samples and demos? Are they royalty-free? Is there permission to resample them and distribute them in my own sample library (usually samples prohibit this – you can use them however you want EXCEPT as part of a sample you share)? Thanks anyone who can help me figure this part out :)
Tuuli
onActually I found some licenses, in the packs that are samples, there’s some that have a license file inside the zip. “Samples – hy2rogen_bass_house_tools” and “Samples – ZTEKNO – COLUMBA (WAVS)”.
However some sample packs did not include a License file. “Samples – NI Battery 3 Kits” and “Zampler Viral Injection”. The hunt will continue, for downloads I wind up using….
Dan
onThanks, BPB for bringing us this offer..but, man, all this crap just ain’t worth it for a few freebies..no matter what those freebies might be!
I, like many others, have followed the steps to the letter..I even managed to download one of the programs, before being hit with that Error message over and over again.
Trying to register and get the serial number of the one program I downloaded is impossible. I’ve tried all possible combinations of second words and numbers from the “big headline” on pages 79 and 82 and NOTHING works..I keep getting a message telling me my answers are wrong.
I’ve wasted too much time on this already.. I’m unsubscribing from their mailing list and..even though I’ve bought their mag in the past..I won’t be buying it again after this fiasco..no confidence in them and their system anymore.
It’s been a couple of days now and still these issues are ongoing. The onus is on them to supply what they are offering..not on us to chase them down and jump through hoops in order to do something that is usually straightforward every where else.
Rant over..moving on..life must be lived.
Fedor Tkachev
oncouldn’t get PS-20 but Thorn solo surprised me so I’m pretty happy with that.
Wing Yee
