Wave Alchemy recently debuted Triaz Player, a free drum plugin and sample player for macOS and Windows.
The plugin is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats and has native support for Apple Silicon chips.
Triaz Player is the freeware version of Wave Alchemy’s Triaz drum plugin, currently priced at £79, down from a list price of £119.

Both versions of Triaz are focused on electronic music and hip-hop sounds.
This focus is made pretty clear from watching the official YouTube demo of the Triaz player, which showcases styles such as techno, hip hop, R&B, lofi, drum and bass, dancehall, reggaeton, etc.
I suspect rockers will not find much to work with here unless they want to explore electronic sounds.
Triaz Player offers 4000 drum samples and 200 presets. The plugin allows users to drag and drop full mixes, audio stems, one-shots, or MIDI straight into their DAW.
Triaz Player offers a wide array of sounds and presets, which is always welcome, especially if it’s free.
However, when you compare it to the full version of Triaz, the functionality starts to look fairly limited.
Adding to that impression is the fact that a fair bit of the product page for Triaz Player is devoted to detailing how it can be used with Wave Alchemy’s paid Triaz Expansions, the first of which is Drift (£49.)
Features present in Triaz that are not featured on the Triaz Player are sequencer editing, assigning new motion parameters, the sound browser and loading your own samples.
Also, when you engage the Drum Randomizer on Triaz Player, the effect is applied to all drums globally, while on Triaz, you get advanced drum and pattern randomization.
So basically, if all you want is a library of 4000 drum sounds to work with and you don’t mind not having an integrated sequencer, then Triaz Player could be a handy plugin to check out.
For producers with more advanced drum programming requirements, then it probably won’t hit the mark.
Because of the very limited functionality of Triaz Player, it seems to me like it’s designed largely as a promotion for the paid Triaz products, as opposed to some freebies which come more fully featured out of the gate.
There doesn’t seem to be an official audio demo of Triaz Player from Wave Alchemy currently.

However, several users have already uploaded unofficial demos of the Triaz Player sounds if you want to suss ‘em out.
