SKR4CH is a free browser-based tool for designing single-cycle waveforms, wavetable frame sets, and sustained samples.
This is a surprisingly capable waveform editor that runs directly in your browser. It’s pretty intuitive, and you can use it to build oscillator material for compatible synthesizers and samplers. It reminded me of the Waved Studio editor that we covered not long ago.
The main canvas uses movable nodes and curve handles. You can draw freely, set horizontal and vertical grid divisions, enable snapping, zoom and pan, or select multiple nodes for group editing.
SKR4CH also builds a second waveform from 18 harmonic partials. Each one has adjustable volume, phase, shape, and a modulation curve. Mix blends the drawn and harmonic waveforms into the output.
It also lets you turn static designs into wavetables. You can define Start and End states, add intermediate stops, then morph nodes, curves, harmonic settings, and even the Mix balance.
You can hear edits in real time by selecting a note and holding the spacebar. The computer keyboard also plays the visible notes polyphonically, which makes it easier to judge the result as an actual instrument rather than staring at a graph.
The export section creates mono WAV files in three modes. Single-cycle mode renders one cycle, Wavetable creates numbered frames across the morph, and Sustained Sample renders the selected pitch or a custom frequency for a chosen duration.
Available export settings include 44.1, 48, and 96 kHz sample rates, 16-bit PCM, 24-bit PCM, or 32-bit float, sample counts from 64 to 32,768, and wavetable frame counts from four to 2,048.
The results can be used as oscillator sources with compatible software and hardware. You can save projects as a text file or copy it as a shareable link. SKR4CH has no undo, redo, or autosave, so save before making destructive changes.
The app generates sound locally through Web Audio API and AudioWorklets. There is no account, subscription, or download, and waveform data is not uploaded during normal use. Exports are royalty-free for personal and commercial projects.
