W.A. Production has announced Babylon 2, the sequel to their original one-page-wonder softsynth. The first 500 customers can purchase the instrument for only $9.90.
Babylon 2 follows the original concept of prioritizing simplicity but also brings brand-new oscillator modes, filters, effects, and a wavetable editor.
Again, as in the original, everything is on one page, and all functions and features are clear to see.
The multi-voice oscillators offer stereo unison, detuning, and two new modes.
Babylon 2 allows you to venture deeper into unique sound design than the original release, thanks to the Multi/Quad modes and the W-Lab wavetable editor.
You can blend waveforms in Multi mode, while Quad mode offers live waveform morphing.
The W-Lab wavetable editor allows you to create unique, mutating timbres. By removing the restriction of pre-defined waveforms, W.A. Production has significantly increased the potential of this one-page synth.
Babylon 2 provides a more extensive filter collection than its predecessor, including SVF, IIR, and bi-quad filters.
W.A. Production has overhauled the built-in effects section with improved reverb, delay, and distortion. Babylon 2 also includes a new tempo-synched phasing effect.
Along with crafting unique tones with the wavetable editor, you can shape your dynamics with the curve editor for envelope modulators. While previous users much appreciated the original Babylon for its ease of use and preset sounds, Babylon 2 allows users to create sounds that evolve however they like.
One of the more unusual features of the first Babylon synth is that it offers microtonal tuning, and anyone who thinks a semitone is just too much will be glad to see that feature carried over to the sequel.
Babylon 2 offers 23 standard scales and 34 exotic scales.
You also get a built-in arpeggiator to add rhythm to your sound.
Although Babylon 2 offers greater sound design potential, it still provides a solid collection of ready-to-go factory presets.
If you like the sound of Babylon 2, you can pick it up at a special introductory price until October 31, 2024.
W.A. Production is offering four tiers of special pricing:

on“…fist 500 customers”? Sounds like a super fancy fight club. Kidding aside, let’s see if Babylon 2 will measure up to the wavetable synth cult classics (Massive, Serum, and Vital). One thing I like about Babylon 2 is the “one page wonder” GUI aesthetic. Having all the bell and whistles in one page definitely helps sound design workflow, at least for me.

onI didn’t care much for Babylon I. Which seems to have been on perennial sale for 10 bucks from the get go.
Give it some time, and I expect Babylon II will be one of monthly gifts at Plugin Boutique or any of the other vendors
