Exp DSP released the Exp Filtertable plugin, plus the free Lite version, for Windows only.
Both versions of the plugin are 64-bit only releases available in CLAP and VST3 formats.
The full version is currently available for $36.75, which is a 25% off Black Friday deal down from the list price of $49.
This deal expires on December 1, but you can also get the freeware Exp Filtertable Lite plugin at any time.
Exp DSP launched the Filtertable back in June 2024, but last month the dev updated the release with a VST3 version, plus several other updates for the 1.1.0+ release.
The Exp Filtertable was built to create a filter version of a wavetable, allowing complex filtering that is difficult to achieve via traditional means.
The plugin has built-in filter tables that depict a range of frequency responses, allowing you to make unique sounds.
There’s also Frequency FX and Gain FX included, which can create some really out-there sounds.
Exp DSP has included Crossovers, which you can use to protect the sub-bass and treble frequencies, even when complex filtering is involved.
There’s also a Smoothing section, which can help you balance and take the edge off a sound.
The full version and Lite version have the same basic design and all of the above sections.
However, the free version has limited functionality, with less customization available within each section.
Exp DSP has produced YouTube demo videos for both the full version of Exp Filtertable and the Lite version.
Hearing the demos, I could definitely hear how the plugin would be useful for adding some texture and movement to sounds and adding a unique flavour to parts.
Exp DSP has made the download process nice and simple, which is something we always appreciate here at BPB.
You can access the install files within two clicks of the product page, where you’re presented with the choice of downloading either the trial full version or the free Lite version.
It seems that there are two free versions, with the free demo version being the same as the full version, just without the ability to save the plugin state.
The Lite version instead has a limited feature set.
Alternatively, you can just go straight to buying the full version via a different link on the product page.

on“limited feature set”
Yup.

onSorry! That was a bug and not intentional! It has now been fixed!

onLol – I was about to leave a comment like “it’s a good year for wavetable-powered effects, with this plugin and with the kHs Shaper Table!”
Had no idea that kHs just came out with Filter Table themselves!
This plugin from Exp DSP seems quite nice though.
FuegoC
onOops, seems I replied to the wrong person – this was meant for Karl W.
To Exp DSP – thanks for this plugin and for reading the comments. I look forward to trying it! Also, I see that your plugin actually predates kHs Filter Table!
Karl W
onYes 😅 it’s just a shame it’s windows only :/
Karl W
onAt the moment :0 I see that they plan to make a Mac version in the future
Karl W
onLmao now Ewan Bristow has released his own Freaky table for pd as well (for free)!
Exp DSP
onSorry! Thanks to you, I realized the issue! The installer settings were incorrect, and Filtertable was being installed in the wrong location!!! It’s now fixed, so please try again!
Bob
onThis looks really nice. Is there any chance of seeing this for Mac or Linux in the future?
Exp DSP
onI plan to create a Mac version in the future, but since I don’t even have a Mac yet, it will take some time. As for the Linux version, there are currently no plans, but it seems that some people are using Exp Filtertable on Linux with a tool called yabridge. (However, I don’t know anything about yabridge, so I won’t be able to provide much support for it.)
Bob
onLooking forward to the Mac version then! I’m aware of yabridge but I only run native software on Linux.
I don’t know much about Github Actions but it seems to allow developers to build for Windows, Mac and Linux if supported. It will depend on what framework you’re using for this. JUCE will work for all three. iPlug covers Windows and Mac but not Linux for now.
You won’t be able to codesign the Mac version without a developer account but there appear to be quite a few devs on Github building Mac plugins without owning one. They just have to explain how to load unsigned plugins.
Exp DSP
onThank you for letting me know! I’m not using frameworks like JUCE or iPlug, so it’s probably going to be quite challenging!
Thank you also for the information about code signing! I haven’t implemented signing on Windows either, so I might adopt that approach!
Karl W
onI this anything similar to the new kHs Filter Table flugin they just released?? 😆

onWindows refused to install it, but you can pass that if you want and know your way a bit around, but after I did so my AV put it in quarantine. That happens very rarely. I also assume plugins presented here are tried by the editors, so if there are any issues they’d have encountered and reported this before. This are three sign in a row that make me not want to give it a try, despite my guess this might probably be a false positive. Generally, but I’m not an expert, in these a plugin requires rights that are also used by malicious software.

on..in these= in these cases..
Exp DSP
onHello, I’m the developer! After looking into what you mentioned, I suspect the issue might be because I haven’t digitally signed the installer. Digital signatures are quite expensive, so to keep the product price affordable, I’ve intentionally decided not to include one for now.
This means you’ll need to judge whether you can trust me, but I’m quite active on social media platforms like X, so I’d be happy if you could check that out! → https://x.com/expdsp_com

Alex
onAny chance this is a false pos? I’d hate to have to pass this one up, since it seems like such a cool plug-in, but Malwarebytes said the download link looks suspicious and your comment seems to lend creedence to that…
Exp DSP
onHello, I’m the developer! As I mentioned in my reply to frits van zanten, the issue is most likely due to the lack of a digital signature, so, if I may say so myself, please feel confident using it!
Alex
onOkay, thank you!
