MOTSU and DeeJei.Tokyo have released MotTune MIDI, a free real-time vocal pitch correction and vocoder plugin for macOS and Windows.
Initial D is one of my favorite anime series, along with Slam Dunk. I binged it back when I had time to binge, so getting an email from someone who worked on its legendary soundtrack was awesome.
MOTSU was the rapper in the Japanese group m.o.v.e, which performed numerous opening and ending themes for Initial D. That includes tracks like Around the World, Rage Your Dream, Gamble Rumble, and Dogfight, so this is a pretty cool crossover between anime nostalgia and music software.
That said, my favorite Initial D track comes from N.I.K.O.

MotTune MIDI is designed for pitch correction during live vocal performances. Insert it on a vocal track, route MIDI to the plugin, and it locks the voice to the notes played on your keyboard. Instead of simply correcting a singer to the nearest note, it lets you perform the vocal pitch like an instrument.
The real-time mode uses no lookahead buffer and adds zero latency, so you can monitor the effect while singing without the delay that often comes with pitch processing. There’s also the higher-quality Studio mode with lookahead, available for editing already-recorded vocals.
The Balance knob moves between two sides of the effect. Side A is a classic vocoder driven by a built-in synth with its own sound-design controls. Side B keeps your vocal character but locks its pitch to the incoming MIDI notes. Blending the two provides plenty of room between synth-like vocoding and aggressive hard tuning.
If you do not want to route MIDI, there is also a Key/Scale mode for more conventional automatic pitch correction.

If you want to do some of this on the go, there is also a separate MotTune app for iPhone and iPad. It can separate vocals from songs directly on the device, turn imported tracks into karaoke backing tracks, correct your voice in real time, and edit the detected melody in a piano-roll-style view.
The free version supports two imported songs and includes an unlimited voice changer.

The plugin download is refreshingly direct. There is no account, email signup, license key, or installer manager.
The 17.7 MB macOS package is notarized and installs the Universal VST3 and AU versions. Windows users get a 6.4 MB VST3 installer, although SmartScreen may display a warning; manual ZIP downloads are also available for both platforms.
MotTune MIDI v1.2.0 is closed-source freeware and is free forever.
