The Flux Studio ePu (electronic processing unit) is the result of a collaboration between Producersources and Grammy-winning producers S1Λ0.
S1Λ0 is the collective name for the award-winning production duo of S1 (Symbolyc One) and Jameil Aossey.
Between them, the chart-topping duo has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Eminem and Madonna.
“Working with S1A0 was one of a kind; their expertise in sound design and creativity are unmatched.” Says Amine Adel, CEO and Founder of Producersources. “It felt like being in a laboratory with two of the best Sound Scientists in the world.”
The Flux Studio ePu has a regular price of $100, but you can grab it for just $29.99 during the limited-time intro sale.
The Flux Studio ePu is an all-in-one effects plugin with a versatile selection of modules. Producersources traveled back in time with S1Λ0 to put some of their signature magic into each of the ten featured modules.
If you like the idea of bundling effects together, check out Plugin Boutique’s Music Production Bundle, starting at just $5 for four items (the offer ends on November 23, 2024).
The ten featured modules cover the usual suspects, like distortion, saturation, delay, reverb, compression, flanger, and more.
If the name of the plugin and talk of time travel haven’t given away a source of inspiration for the developers, detailing a few modules should.
- Jigopressor – a compressor with threshold, ratio, attack, and release settings.
- Biff – combined distortion, saturation, and bitcrush.
- Fluxuation – Chorus and Phaser combined.
- Time Travel – Stereo delay with a secondary back delay.
Like any good multi-effect plugin, the idea is to allow users to focus on creativity (simple or complex effects) and think less about signal flow and chaining multiple plugins.
The Flux Studio ePu does that; it delivers polished, ready-to-go results with little effort.
Speaking about the plugin’s impact on sound, Symbolyc One says, “We figured out a way to be experimental yet keep our unique sonic taste in The Flux. The excitement factor for me using The Flux is how I can make one sound become an option of many other sound possibilities. ”
Of course, you can shape your sound however you like, with enough variation available to craft something unique. But, The Flux Studio ePu offers a shortcut to many familiar effects from genres like pop, hip-hop, EDM, etc.
If you want gritty vocals going into a massive EDM drop, 40 Shebib-like underwater lo-fi sound, or glitchy pitch-shifting, The Flux Studio ePu gets you there quickly.
In addition to the ten FX modules, the plugin includes two LFO modulation macros with sine, square, triangle, and saw wave types (assignable to any parameter).
The interface, styled like the inside of a certain DeLorean (complete with a reversed Flux capacitor), is easy to get around.
There are three preset banks (111 presets): Mass, Space, and Time.
The Back to the Future (if you hadn’t guessed) references continue with presets like:
- Great Scott Sear
- Mayor Goldie Wilson
- Make Like A Tree
- Sav3 Th3 Clock Tow3r
“We wanted to channel our love for creative visual inspiration and merge that with our passion for sound design, which ultimately created an undeniably themed plug-in. It’s so cool and inspiring to have it up on your screen when creating,” says Jameil Aossey. “It’s really important for us as creators to not only be inspired externally but to create in an inspiring environment. In use, The Flux’s GUI helps to give you a visually fun experience in your DAW.”
The Flux Studio ePu crams a lot into a single plugin, but with so many plugins available, time and extended use will tell if it’s a steal at $100. If you can get in early, it’s a solid buy for $29.99.
After years of taking any excuse to reference Back to the Future, I finally have more opportunities than I know what to do with.
All that remains is to travel back in time and figure out how to tell the past me that I’ve found that new sound I’ve been looking for.
The Flux Studio ePu is available in 64-bit AU, VST, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS (10 and higher) and Windows (8 and higher).
