Aurora DSP is giving away its Gorilla Bass Studio Suite for free for a limited time.
This giveaway works like this: You’ll need to comment on Instagram under this post, and they will send you the voucher code in DMs.
Add it to your cart, enter the code at checkout and then you can enjoy this plugin from the comfort of your DAW or as a standalone program.
Aurora DSP describes Gorilla as “Different monsters for different genres” as it features 3 standard preamps that each simulate a standard bass amp.
The Yellow preamp is inspired by Aguilar amps and is the most versatile. It can do anything from clean bass tones to a fat distorted sound in its “drive” mode.
The Green preamp is based on the Super Bassman all-tube amp, and is perfect for modern rock bass tones, according to Aurora DSP.
And finally, the Orange preamp models the classic Ampeg heritage series and has a powerful low end with punchy mids.
You can control the preamp’s gain, blend, and dial it in using the provided 4-band EQ.
Gorilla also features a 3-band splitter to let you control bass, mids, and treble independently, with adjustable crossover frequencies.
Each section has a compressor (or Maximizer, as it’s called in the plugin), and a saturator.
Modern bass guitar tones are usually done by splitting the frequency bands which can get convoluted, but this plugin makes it quick and easy.
Gorilla gives you a total of 18 presets to play with, with the ability to also save your own.
I personally really enjoyed playing around with the “Royal Juice” preset on my P-bass. It’s got that Lemmy / Motorhead kind of sound, which is a lot of fun to play with.
Additionally, it features a low and high octaver, a cab sim and IR loader, a limiter, and a tuner.
I wish it had a noise gate as well, similar to what most modern amp sims do. But I digress; you can always use your own noise gate in front of it.
All in all, I think Gorilla is a great amp sim, especially for crushing bass tones. And for free, it’s a no-brainer.
Gorilla runs as a VST3, AU, or AAX plugin or standalone program on Windows and macOS machines.

onmaybe I’m missing something but I’m not seeing anything that ever actually gives any sort of discount, they just send you a DM on insta that says to make an account but there’s not any code or anything that actually makes it free that I can see

onFor boomers with no instagram account, you can do the same process (comment and get code) on Facebook as well.
For people with no social media, code is “Freebass” without quotes

Gery Zenz
onThank you!
PMF
onthanks, this makes it much less annoying
Tom
onNot having Insta is not about being a boomer, it is about not willing to engage with monopolistic liberal companies with moderation problems
See the video What Facebook has done to us by Tentacrul (head of Muse Group, so not unrelated to music and tech) (it also speaks of insta)
Supporting aurora dsp is cool though, and thanks for the code!
Mike
onlol Boomers? Thanks for the clarification Tom! I’m a big fan of Rhino and it is used a ton here. If it is not already (I’ll have to check), would be nice if the giveaway was easily available for existing Aurora users/accounts Pablo, I could care less about Instagram or your feelings. Love, GenX
Peter Dillon-Parkin
onHow about ‘boomers’ with no Instagram or Facebook? Or any other accounts in the sucking pit of stupidity that is ‘social’ media?
dar
onThank you Pablo!
I registered and cannot see where the code is or where the full Install (not the 14 days try) is…
Does anybody know?
Thank you

onHappy Tryptophan Coma Day! It’s been a while since I purchased Rhino, but Aurora has clearly been busy! Plenty of freebies on their site that I need to check out. After a short bit with Gorilla, I like it. I’m a fan of ridiculously distorted bass guitars. Jamming Gorilla into Parallax is delivering the filth. \m/..\m/
Mike
onAlso, in regards to closing their doors and for the fans of raw drums that actually sound like drums in a room/trash can/your mom’s basement…..Ugritone is shutting down and have a massive sale on their libraries. Even if you already have a fav drum library, try blending in some Ugritone.
