Mangling your audio can become even more fun thanks to this $37 deal on Sugar Bytes’ Graindad granular effects processor (normally $99) at Audio Plugin Deals.
The deal represents a 63% saving on the macOS and Windows plugin – a VST and AU release. The deal ends on February 20, 2025.
Sugar Bytes introduced Graindad in October 2022, and the plugin is designed for real-time audio manipulation.
The devs made the plugin for electronic musicians and sound designers who want to create fresh sounds.
So what exactly can the big daddy do?
Graindad can freeze, reorganise, texturize, and slice up your audio by using triggers such as MIDI notes, clocks, and transients. Sugar Bytes has included a multiband transient detector to assist with the latter.
While recording audio, the plugin’s Grain Engine allows you to play it back up to 64 times via individual grains.
The 12 main parameters allow you to modify the output, including looping, time-stretching, stuttering, pitch shifting, harmonizing, and reversing.
There’s also a 16-step trigger sequencer, as well as LP, BP, HP, and band-reject filters.
A section featuring spring reverb, HQ reverb, delay, shimmer, chorus, and flanger covers effects.
The feature set also includes a complex wet/dry envelope and a modulation system with unlimited random functions.
Graindad is based on two modulation systems. It features a more classic system modulation setup via step sequencing, LFOs, and envelopes, as well as the Harvester mod system, which is a simple way to switch up multiple parameters at once in a visual editor.
This dual system is complemented by the Modmix Control, allowing you to create surprising results by crossfading between the classic mod system and Harvester.
Many audio demos are showcasing Graindad on YouTube, including an incredibly comprehensive 1.5-hour tutorial from Sugar Bytes.
I have to say that Graindad certainly has a huge amount of customization options on tap. You can see that in the official tutorial, but even just a quick glance at the interface will make it clear that the plugin has a lot to offer.
I think it’s safe to say that Graindad is one for the producer who really likes to get hands-on and down and dirty with the details of creating unique sounds.
