Alex Hilton’s A1Audio has made the analog-style A1PrimeDelay plugin free for a limited time with the coupon code “A1PRIMEDELAY-FREE-1-2”.
The plugin, inspired by ‘70s and ‘80s tape delays, is available for macOS and Windows in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX.
Since its launch in April 2024, the A1PrimeDelay has been offered at an introductory price of $30, although its nominal list price is $70. The developer didn’t specify an end date for the current giveaway.
To snap up the freebie, just hit the ‘get it now for free’ button on the product page and enter the coupon code, an email address, and your name. You’ll then be forwarded to a page with a license key for the plugin.
After that, you’ll want to swing back to the product page, where you can download either the macOS or Windows zips with a single click.
Once you download the plugin, you can activate it with your shiny new license key.
Alex Hilton states that the A1PrimeDelay comes with two innovations, which are the Nova Soft Transient engine and the stereo delay options.

The Nova engine offers precise transient detection and softening, which works even on complex sources like chords, overlapping notes, and submixes.
Hilton notes that while the engine is computationally demanding, it’s been engineered in a way that makes it work without latency in regular mode.
As for the stereo features, the delay has tape-like Flutter and Wow modulations.
When using the Unaligned function, these mods give a mono input a rich delay sound with an expansive stereoscope.
The A1PrimeDelay has advanced features, but if you don’t like knob-twiddling, you can use it as a no-frills delay with the three-parameter main panel.
This offers a way of controlling the delay with just the Feedback, Time Sync, and Mix parameters.
If you want to do a deep dive, you can head to the Expert panel, where the delay opens up with various modulation options and other features.
The Expert panel offers an analog-style resonant Filter in the feedback loop, with Lowpass, Highpass, and Bandpass options.
There’s also a Ducker, Transient Softening engine, Saturation with oversampling, Chorus, Room Reverb, Low, and High Cut filters, Flutter mod, Wow mod, and a Stereo Widener.
If you previously used version 1.0 of the delay, then I reckon now might be the time to take another look, as many of the above features have been overhauled and improved.
I have to say the A1PrimeDelay is certainly a plum freebie to score. While no-frills freebies certainly have their place, it’s great to see a full-featured plugin with some unique features included come up for free like this.
