WideFire from the developer JMG Sound is now free for a limited time at United Plugins.
Some of you may be familiar with the DarkFire analog-style saturation plugin from JMG Sound. If you are, you might be one of the users who asked for a streamlined plugin providing the core features of DarkFire.
JMG Sound listened to customer feedback, and WildFire is that streamlined plugin.
WideFire is available for free from the 10th till the 19th of March.
After this period, there will be a €9 intro price before it settles on a regular price of €29. Existing DarkFire users will automatically unlock a WideFire license!
Like DarkFire, WideFire brings a new approach to widening an audio signal. Unlike a typical saturation plugin, WideFire processes harmonics separately.
It separates the harmonics added after saturating the signal and applies a proprietary widening algorithm. The plugin then blends the processed harmonics with the original audio.
The unique approach to stereo enhancement provides a clean and spacious stereo field.
WideFire is one of those plugins that can produce pleasing results instantly, and it’s those plugins we end up returning to time after time.
There are only a few controls (Harmonics Level, Drive, HP filter, Output, and a Side Only switch), but the results can be transformative.
JMG Sound highlights the effectiveness of WideFire on drums, vocals, synths, guitars, and more. It’s definitely a plugin with multiple use cases, and one you could easily throw on multiple tracks that need a little more presence.
Although less is usually more, I like WideFire best when used to create epic immersive sounds. It’s excellent when you want drums to sound like they come from a vast open space without losing crispness or becoming too wishy-washy. It’s also great for enhancing lush synth pads with an immersive warmth.
It would be a bargain at the €9 intro price, but it’s a top-notch freebie; don’t miss it.
