AIR Music Technology offers the Multiband Filterbank as a free plugin once again, this time available for a limited time as part of the Force Plugin Giveaway.
AIR Multiband Filterbank was originally launched in November 2024 (you can read BPB’s news article here).
It is a powerful multiband filter plugin for desktop DAWs and MPC/Force standalone systems. This is the second time it’s been offered as a freebie, and once again, you can grab it without owning any Akai hardware.
The plugin provides a unique take on classic filtering tools by splitting your signal into three frequency bands—low, mid, and high—each equipped with its own filter engine.
You get five filter types per band (lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch, and peak), along with classic cutoff and resonance controls. Each band also includes a pre-drive option, letting you add character and grit right where you need it.
I tested the AIR Multiband Filterbank the last time it was free, and one of the most exciting features for me is the built-in modulation. Every band has its own envelope follower, complete with rise, fall, gain, and modulation amount parameters.

You can dial in subtle movement or go for more pronounced dynamic filtering effects using the mod control per band. The envelope followers also come with three behavior presets—low, mid, and high follow—for fast sound shaping.
The plugin’s interface offers a live spectrum display and a smart crossover section, so it’s easy to fine-tune how your audio is split across bands. Additional touches like per-band soloing, an output level control, and a large collection of presets make Multiband Filterbank a handy tool for surgical mixing and creative sound design.
While this giveaway is focused on Force users, anyone can grab the plugin by signing up on the AIR Music Tech website. After signing up, you should receive a license that works across desktop platforms and standalone Akai hardware, at least theoretically.
However, I signed up earlier today but haven’t received my license yet—if you have, feel free to drop a comment.
Multiband Filterbank supports VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats. It runs on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows, and Akai’s MPC/Force systems with firmware version 2.15.1 or later. You’ll need to install Akai’s MPC software for desktop use and have an internet connection for authorization.
Grab it while you can—AIR says the free licenses might run out soon!
