Melodyne has long been the industry standard for pitch correction, and it’s a great tool to have in your arsenal if you can get a good deal. You can save over 70% on Melodyne 5 Essential at Plugin Boutique.

Melodyne offers four versions: Essential, Assistant, Editor, and Studio.
A quick look at the chart on Plugin Boutique’s product page will tell you that Melodyne 5 Essentials offers significantly less than all other versions. But don’t let that put you off; if you don’t have Melodyne, any version for £22 is a good buy.
Melodyne Essentials provides the most basic Melodyne tools, which allow you to adjust the pitch, position, and duration of notes and note separations.
It also provides all Melodyne algorithms, including Melodic, Percussive, and Universal. The Melodic algorithm features sibilance detection, but you can’t access the newer Sibilance Tool with precision adjustments.
The real downside of Meldyne Essentials is that it doesn’t include DNA (Direct Note Access). Direct Note Access allows you to adjust single notes in chords through complex polyphonic algorithms.
The ability to correct single notes in a chord or even use DNA for harmonic experimentation is pretty awesome. However, only the Editor and Studio versions feature DNA, and both are significantly more expensive; we can live without it.
The biggest upside of owning Melodyne Essentials is the ability to remove or fix problem areas with natural-sounding results. The natural or musical results are largely thanks to the ability to target and edit pitched elements and noise elements separately.
Thankfully, the period when it seemed that pitch correction and auto-tune meant sounding like T-Pain was short-lived.
