BeatConnect has released PlaygroundFX, a multi-effects plugin that lets you build and explore complex effect chains in a fun, hands-on way.
PlaygroundFX probably isn’t the kind of plugin you’ll load for a simple reverb or delay. But if you want to twist and reshape your audio into something completely new, this could become your new favorite playground.
The core concept is simple: you get four slots to load effects, and a central XY joystick (called the Orb) that blends the four together in real time. You can automate movements in your DAW, generate random combinations with a click, and save your favorite blends to reuse later.
PlaygroundFX ships with over 50 built-in effects, ranging from reverbs and delays to distortion, saturation, and more.
But the real magic happens when you mix and match them. Or (perhaps even better for us plugin heads) when you bring in your own VST plugins to stack alongside the built-in modules.

I’ve been testing it primarily as a sound design tool for cinematic SFX. It’s great for taking a dry signal and mangling it into a shimmering, modulated texture or a rhythmic delay-scape.
It’s especially useful for those “happy accident” moments where unexpected combinations lead to new sounds. In other words, you can load any boring old loop and have fun with randomization in PlaygroundFX to transform the loop into something way more interesting.
This isn’t a utility plugin. I think it’s more of a tool for creative exploration. If you’re the type of producer who enjoys building FX chains from scratch but wishes the process felt more immediate and inspiring than your DAW’s insert slots, this is worth a look.
