Shallow Grave is a freeware filter plugin by Decadebridge for macOS and Windows.
It features a cascading filter effect with three different state variable filters, which can be configured as either low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, or band-reject filters, with cutoff and resonance controls.

To make it funkier, Shallow Grave lets you select your dry/wet amount as well as the amount of signal from filter 1 being fed into filter 2, and filter 2 into filter 3.
As you can imagine, the possibilities for tone shaping are huge, but that’s only the beginning.
Each filter stage is coupled with an LFO and an A/D Envelope section.
The LFO has sine, saw, ramp, triangle, pulse, white noise, and perlin noise waveforms. There are knobs to control phase and shape, plus rate and depth controls coupled with a sync function that maps to your host BPM.
Rhythmical filter action can thus be applied across the different filters separately, opening up for complex and dynamic sounds.
This is perfect to create anything between subtle movement and textural change in a pad or instrument to straight-up sound mangling with crazy resonances and hastily shifting timbres.
The A/D envelope section can be set in either FREE or SYNC mode. And the action can be triggered by pulse or by audio! Selecting the audio trigger gives you an additional sensitivity control that determines how the envelope section reacts, which is, in my opinion, very cool!
All the way to the right is the output panel, which lets you dial in overall dry/wet mix and bias for each filter.
You can dial in two extremes and then use the big “A-B” knob to select either setting or a blend between them.
The level button is there to control the overall volume going out of the plugin.
Oh, and did I mention that Decadebridge makes really cool hardware as well? I’ve been ogling his synths and
effects for quite some time.

The developer notes that the plugin might have some issues with the macOS version on certain systems and is looking into it.
