From developer Chaos Audio comes Eclipse, a free noise suppressor plugin for macOS and Windows.
Dealing with unwanted noise isn’t the most enjoyable aspect of performing, recording, or processing, but it’s something everyone has to deal with.
Even with power conditioners, high-quality cables, DI boxes, and other necessary equipment, the average bedroom producer still has to contend with EMI (electromagnetic interference) in one way or another.
Plugins like Eclipse can help, whether used with Chaos Audio’s Stratus multi-effects pedal or for post-processing in your DAW.
The Stratus pedal is a hardware guitar stompbox that bridges the gap between your pedalboard and your plugin collection. It allows you to create presets featuring multiple plugins/effects, while taking up minimal space on your pedalboard.

As I mentioned, Eclipse works with the Stratus hardware, but doesn’t require it; you can run it in your DAW. Eclipse is available in AU, VST3, and AAX formats for macOS and Windows.

EMI noise can be a real problem for anyone recording at home, and transparent noise reduction or gating can be worth its weight in gold. Guitarists often have pedals in their chain, like the BOSS NS1X, but something like the Eclipse plugin is handy for everyone, from producers to podcasters.
Eclipse is easy to use, featuring just three controls: Threshold, Decay, and Reduction.
Threshold sets the noise cutoff point, Decay adjusts the speed of the noise reduction, and Reduction controls the amount by which the noise is reduced.
Set the Reduction to maximum to fully noise gate.
Many developers offer noise reduction plugins, some for specific tasks, but Eclipse works well. If you don’t have anything similar yet, it’s worth checking out.
