quietformat has released ValveDesk, a vintage tube tone coloration plugin that brings the warmth and harmonic richness of analog tube gear into your DAW. Even better, it’s free for the first 48 hours (until October 29, 2025, 11:59 PM EST).
ValveDesk is a saturation plugin designed to add musical harmonic coloration inspired by vintage tube gear. It’s supposed to work as a harmonic saturator and gentle distortion tool on all sorts of signals, from vocals and guitars to entire mix buses.
The plugin features three distinct tube models, a 3-band musical EQ, and a real-time spectrum display for more intuitive tone shaping.
Each of the three tube types has a unique flavor. Type 1 offers a punchy sound with strong odd harmonics that tighten the low end and add midrange presence. It’s intended for drums, guitars, or mixes that need definition.
Type 2 provides a smoother and warmer tone, emphasizing even harmonics for a natural, vintage vibe that stays clean even when pushed hard. It’s more suitable for adding warmth to vocals or acoustic instruments.
Type 3 is the most saturated and energetic of the three, bringing rich harmonic density, extra weight, and bite. This is the one to go with if you want your tracks to sound big and distorted.

ValveDesk also includes a surprisingly musical EQ. The 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) lets you fine-tune the tone character, and this is something I often do to tame any excess harshness in the highs and mids. There’s also an optional analog noise circuit for added realism.
The GUI isn’t complicated and stays out of the way while providing a bit of visual feedback via the real-time spectrum analyzer. It’s lightweight on the CPU and runs with zero latency, so it’s practical for both mixing and tracking.
If you act quickly, you can grab ValveDesk for free directly from the quietformat website. Just click the orange “Get It Free” button on the product page, enter your email at checkout, and you’ll receive your download link.
After October 29, the plugin will be available for $39 (intro price) before returning to its regular $49.
ValveDesk is available for macOS 10.13 or later and Windows 10 or later (64-bit only) in VST3 and AU formats. It supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
