UAD Galaxy Tape Echo or Bloom Vocal Edit Lite FREE with any purchase at Plugin Boutique

Plugin Boutique’s November gifts part two is here, and, in a change from last week’s offering, UAD’s Galaxy Tape Echo replaces Native Instruments’ Massive. Now you can get Universal Audio’s Galaxy Tape Echo or Excite Audio’s Bloom Vocal Edit Lite free with any purchase.

As always, free products don’t qualify for the promotion, and you can’t pay in full with a voucher or virtual cash (anything less than 100% is OK).

Other than that, find the cheapest product you can if you don’t need anything specific.

There are many emulations of Roland’s RE-201 Space Echo, such as Arturia’s Delay Tape-201, IK Multimedia’s Space Delay, and AudioThing’s Outer Space 2 (available at less than half price via the AudioThing website at the time of writing).

Each emulation has something to offer, and it’s not easy to choose a definitive winner. While some offer additional modern flexibility, UAD’s emulation is widely considered one of the most faithful recreations.

What it lacks in “extra” features, it makes up for in authenticity; limitations, imperfections, and all.

With that in mind, Galaxy Tape Echo mimics the tape imperfections and degradation with each loop/repeat remarkably close to the hardware.

Rather than offering new modulation options, UAD’s emulation focuses on the more organic tape mechanics that lead to the chorusing effect that defines the original (the spring reverb is outstanding, too).

I have a few emulations, but I regularly return to Universal Audio’s version for electric piano sounds; it’s gorgeous.

Some of you might have picked up Excite Audio’s Bloom Vocal Edit Lite last week, but if not, it’s well worth checking out.

Bloom Vocal Edit Lite is a vocal-based instrument that allows you to trigger and modify vocal samples on the fly.

At a glance, Bloom Vocal Edit Lite is very reminiscent of Output’s Arcade; white keys trigger samples, and black keys modify them (half-time, double-time, reverse, etc.)

The instrument comes with 56 royalty-free vocal samples and 75 factory presets, and it’s a lot of fun. The downside is that you can’t import custom samples; that feature is reserved for the full version of the product.

You can adapt samples to any selected key, and four macro controls (Glue, Fuzz, Metallic, and Doubler) let you morph vocal samples into glitchy chops, epic ringing delays, and distorted meltdowns.

The Lite version also features five main FX parameters: Lo-Cut, Hi-Cut, Reverb, Bitcrush, and Delay.

Between this week’s freebies, I suggest Galaxy Tape Echo if you don’t already have it. I know it’s an older plugin, but it’s a timeless effect with countless applications.

Without a sample import feature, Bloom Vocal Edit Lite doesn’t offer the same longevity, but it’s still a very cool freebie.
