Dreeemwave is offering BPB readers 25% off Bassliner, a MIDI bassline generator plugin for macOS and Windows.
Bassliner normally costs €24, but you can use the coupon code BPB25 at checkout to reduce the price to €19.
This one first caught my attention because of the Cableguys connection. I love Cableguys’ plugins, and Bassliner started with support from Cableguys during its beta stage, even though it is a Dreeemwave product.
The original algorithms were running as command-line scripts that generated MIDI files. Cableguys supplied a basic plugin UI for the beta and helped set up communication with the server that runs the algorithms.
The idea behind Bassliner is to have a tool you can collaborate with to generate MIDI basslines for modern dance, pop, and rap production. You can preview, edit, export, or route the MIDI into your DAW.
Also, you are not locked to a particular bass sound because the output is MIDI. The cool part is that you can send the generated patterns to any synth, sampler, or bass instrument you like.

Bassliner includes a piano roll, bassline library, drag-and-drop MIDI export, and MIDI import. The newer User Input Awareness feature lets you drop MIDI files into the piano roll so the generated basslines can follow your own chord progressions or melodies more closely.
If you like a certain part of a pattern but want to keep experimenting, you can use Lock Zones to freeze selected areas while generating new notes elsewhere. Create Similar is there for making variations of an existing idea rather than starting from scratch.
The Feedback Pool feature can suggest popular patterns based on user feedback, but you can disable it with Generate Just For Me if you prefer a more private workflow.
It is also worth noting that Bassliner is not trained on thousands of songs like an AI model and does not rely on premade MIDI packs. Instead, the generator is based on Alex’s research into algorithmic music generation.
Version 1.5 adds offline bassline generation. There is also a free demo if you want to check compatibility before buying.
Dreeemwave suggests Windows 10 or macOS 15 or newer, and Bassliner is available as a VST/AU plugin compatible with major DAWs.
