Philipp Bulling (aka phi-L Audio) has released Tonestack, a free Marshall tone stack emulation in VST plugin format for Windows.
I’ve built a small plugin, that emulates a Marshall tonestack. First, I’ve derived the transfer function of the tonestack from the circuit. Then, I’ve calculated the coefficients of the z-transform by bilinear transform.
Tonestack is available for free download via Philipp Bulling’s website (2.9MB download size, 32-bit Win VST plugin).
As far as I understand, a tone stack is essentially the 3-band equalizer found on guitar amps. So, this plugin emulates the EQ control from a Marshall guitar amp. Please correct me if I’m wrong, though!
Philipp Bulling has released another guitar-related freebie a while ago, it’s a tube amplifier in VST plugin format. For more free guitar tools, take a look at BPB’s lists of free guitar amp VST plugins and free guitar cabinet impulse responses.
