Alejandro Cabrera has released kFootsteps, a free collection of footstep samples for Native Instruments Kontakt.

kFootsteps is a library programmed for Kontakt 4 and above aimed to aid sound editors and foley artists in their process of adding footsteps to a scene.

kFootsteps is available for free download via Alejandro Cabrera’s website (42.2MB download size, contains 397 samples in 16-bit WAV format, 1 instrument in NKI format).

For a donation of €5, you can get the 24-bit version of the sample collection. The 16-bit version is free (thanks to psyko67 for letting me know about this in the comments section).

This sample library was designed as a tool for sound editors, in order to add footstep sounds to movies and video clips without too much effort. The footstep samples are mapped across the keyboard, making it very easy to apply the sounds where needed by recording MIDI notes.

You don’t need to be a NI Kontakt user in order to use this sound collection. Simply load the provided WAV samples in your sampler of choice and enjoy!
