AudioCR has released MIDI FX Freeze, a free utility plugin for freezing midi plugins in Logic Pro X with one easy click.

Do you need to freeze midi plugins in Logic Pro X with ease? Insert plugin, enable capture and drag and drop back to arrange.

MIDI FX Freeze is available for free download via AudioCR (700 kB download size, DMG file, AU plugin format for Mac).

If I understand correctly, this tool “freezes” all MIDI messages in a chain of MIDI plugins inside Logic, and makes it possible to use the same set of MIDI messages in other parts of your project. I could be totally wrong here, though, as I’ve never used Logic and I’ve only seen the demo video.

If you’re a Logic user and find this plugin useful, please post your user experience in a comment below and I’ll add a more detailed overview of MIDI FX Freeze to this article.

AudioCR has also announced a forthcoming OSX audio tool labeled Retrospective MIDI, which will make it possible to recall MIDI note data even if the performance wasn’t recorded. Sounds like a useful tool to have around! It’s amazing how many times I’ve jammed out something that sounded great to my ears, only to end up failing in remembering the actual notes which were played.
