Pianovintage has released a free plugin bundle featuring a collection of 5 freeware drum machines and samplers in VSTi plugin format for Windows.
There really isn’t too much information available on the download page, and most of it is pretty hard to comprehend. From what I could gather, the Beatbox bundle features the following 5 instruments:
707 – A sample based virtual drum machine, most probably based on the Roland TR-707. It features 16 drum pads and a set of basic effects such as chorus, distortion, and delay. It is also possible to control the individual volume of each sample
Latin Set – Another virtual drum machine, probably based on samples of latin percussion. The features are identical to the 707 instrument.
Hell Drums – An drum module based on samples of an acoustic drum set. Same features and layout as the previous two instruments.
ACID – A drum machine designed for use in hip hop tracks. I guess it probably uses TR-808 samples. Shares teh same feature set as the previous three.
SP-101 – A simple sample based synthesizer. It seems that the instrument is based on 16 multi-samples which are spread across 4 octaves (I guess that these are samples of a saw oscillator). It also features a distortion, delay, and a reverb module.
The instruments are available for free download via Pianovintage (ZIP archive, 32-bit VSTi plugin format for windows, EXE standalone, made with SynthMaker). Each instrument is available both in VSTi plugin and standalone versions.
I’m a big sucker for virtual drum machines, so I’ll give these freebies a go even though I didn’t really like the SP-101 synthesizer. Perhaps the drum machines will turn out to be better.
