Patch Arena has released Double Bass Pizz SFZ, a free sample library featuring the samples of a double bass (the library also features user contributed NKI and VSTi plugin versions).
Here is a free Double Bass Pizz SFZ instrument for you! The sample recordings were from a Anton Krutz Model Double Bass recorded in 24bit, 96k. Microphones used: Earthworks QTC40 microphone. 41 Chromatic Bass Samples Delivered in 24bit, 44.1k. Load in your favorite SFZ Player/Sampler and enjoy.
Double Bass Pizz SFZ is available for free download via Patch Arena (20.3 MB download size, ZIP archive, contains 40 audio samples in 24-bit WAV format, mappings in SFZ format).
The fact that the library is offered in SFZ format means that anyone can use these samples for free. If you’re looking for a free SFZ player, I would recommend sforzando (which was included in our list of the best free software from 2013) and Zampler, although there are even more freeware alternatives out there.
If you’re not into using SFZ sample libraries, you’ll like the fact that KVR Audio forum member bigcat1969 has re-compiled these samples for use with NI Kontakt and also converted them to VSTi plugin format with the permission of the author. For now, these two alternative versions of the sample pack are available for free download in this thread on KVR Audio.
Definitely grab these sample pack if you’re looking to expand your library of classical instrument sounds. The included samples sound very good and the fact that the library is currently available in three different formats offers lots of flexibility for use in your music projects.
