Youlean Freq-Balancer by Julijan Nikolic.

Julijan Nikolic (aka Youlean) has released Youlean Freq-Balancer, a mastering utility in VST plugin format which balances the frequency response of processed audio signal in comparison to commercially released tracks.

Youlean Freq-Balancer is simple tool that will help you with mastering by balancing frequency response of your songs.

This is a donationware release. The demo version of the plugin is available for free download from the developer’s site. The full version of the product can be acquired after submitting a donation of any amount to the developer. If you don’t have the funds to make a donation, get in touch with the developer using the contact form on his website with an explanation and you can (possibly) get the full version for free. I’m not making things up here, the developer wrote this in a forum thread. :)

Now that we have that covered, let’s talk a bit about the plugin. Youlean Freq-Balancer is designed for use on the master channel, after the compression and just before the master limiter. The plugin analyzes the mixed audio on the input and balances its frequency response against commercially released and mastered tunes. We’ve recently had another auto-mastering tool in the news section and I’m excited to hear how well this plugin compares. The user response so far has been quite positive, to say the least!

To get the best results with Youlean Freq-Balancer, the developer suggests to allow the plugin to analyze the loudest part of your track. You should also avoid sibilant vocals in the analyzed part of your track because the loud sibilant noises can negatively influence the final result.

Youlean Freq-Balancer is available for free download via Julijan Nikolic’s website (2.1 MB download size, ZIP archive, 32-bit VST plugin format for Windows, made with FlowStone).

  1. Dear developer, I am interested in this device but at the moment in a time crunch to find a vst plugin for windows 32bit that will help me make my mix sound like it was recorded in the 60’s. Does this unit do that and if so how would I tweak the knobs? If not can you suggest one for that?
    Thank you, TC
