ProjectSAM has updated The Free Orchestra, a free cinematic orchestra sound library. The library is now fully compatible with the free Kontakt Player plugin by Native Instruments.
The Free Orchestra contains over 1 GB of high-quality cinematic samples handpicked from ProjectSAM’s best-selling orchestra libraries. It features a wide range of orchestra sounds, from string staccatos to brass clusters and symphonic percussion. The latest edition of The Free Orchestra contains all twelve original presets and two newly added ones from the Symphobia 4 library.

Most importantly, the new version of The Free Orchestra is fully compatible with the freeware Kontakt Player virtual instrument by Native Instruments. This means that you can use ProjectSAM’s professional-quality orchestra samples completely free of charge without having to purchase the full version of NI Kontakt. The free Kontakt Player instrument is available in VST, AU, AAX, and RTAS plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.
On a related note, ProjectSAM has introduced Symphobia 4: Pandora Core. This is a virtual instrument library based on the full version of Pandora but limited to a single cinematic mic set. It costs 199 EUR and features over 17 GB of orchestral ensemble recordings.

The Free Orchestra can be downloaded completely free of charge via ProjectSAM. You will also need to download the free Kontakt Player plugin from Native Instruments. At the moment, ProjectSAM’s website seems to be down, probably due to a large amount of traffic. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved soon so that you can download your copy of The Free Orchestra.
