ANWIDA Soft offers The Phaser, a FREE phasing effect plugin for macOS and Windows.
The Phaser is the latest in a string of FREE plugins from ANWIDA Soft. We’ve previously covered C-Delay, The Filter, and The Tremolo from the same developer.
The Phaser is available to download for free if you create an account on the ANWIDA Soft website. Otherwise, you can purchase it for $12.
Delivering a rich stereo phasing effect, The Phaser recreates the sound of the 70s or at least one sound of the 70s.
When a sound isn’t perfect but isn’t terrible either, sometimes it just needs a subtle tweak to create something more appealing. One of the easiest ways to turn boring into exciting is by adding a little movement.
So, a phaser effect is often an ideal place to start. I like to use a phaser on synth pads that are a bit rough around the edges. It’s an excellent way to reduce the harshness of the pad without completely changing the character of the sound. Subtle movement tends to make most dull sounds more interesting.
That’s how I would use The Phaser most, but you don’t need to be so subtle if you don’t want to be.
You can use a phaser plugin for subtle movement or completely mangle your sound. I love that being a musician is one of the professions/hobbies in which saying “completely mangle” has a positive meaning.
The Phaser shares the same design and styling as the previous ANWIDA Soft plugins. The GUI is straightforward, with only necessary controls: Frequency, Depth, Degree, Rate, Feedback, and Mix.
ANWIDA Soft plugins are typically very light on CPU, which is always a good thing.
You can automate all parameters and enter values manually to get to precise levels quicker.
If you were around at the end of 2021, you might have seen the Dr Phase plugin from Audiority; if not, check it out.
The Phaser is available in AU and VST3 formats for macOS (10.10 – 12) and Windows (7 – 11). To get your free copy, simply register or log in to your existing ANWIDA Soft user account.

onI’ve *never* been able to register my German email address with them. It seems like they blacklist. And no, it’s not the spam filter.

ondid you manage to download the samples as well?
could not get this to work and could not figure out where the samples are (either downloaded, or to download)
Numanoid
onAccording to manual, it seems the samples are included in the installer. When the plugin has been installed, one has to do the following:
“Click the “Install Samples” button and navigate to the Samples Folder created with your
install. Open the .hr file located within the folder. Create a folder to install the samples.
Once samples have been extracted, you will need to open a new instance of the Plugin.”
