Developer Full Bucket Music has released Paralogy, a free Crumar Trilogy and Stratus emulation for macOS and Windows.
Full Bucket Music is back with another vintage synth emulation after ending 2024 with Broken Mini (Minimoog) and Ragnarök 2.0 (custom synth built by Hans Peter).
With this latest release, Björn (Full Bucket) turned his attention to the Italian manufacturer Crumar and its Trilogy and Stratus paraphonic synths.
Crumar released both synths in the early 1980s.
The Crumar Trilogy is an orchestral synth with three distinct sections: Synth, Strings, and Organ. The sections combine, making a six-voice analogue hybrid synth able to layer or separate the sections.
Stratus is a slimmed-down version of Trilogy, minus the Strings section.
The Paralogy synth engine features two VCOs with sawtooth and square waveforms.

Paralogy pretty closely emulates everything about the original Trilogy, from the feature set to the interface.
Features include a two-pole and four-pole 24dB low-pass filter with cutoff and resonance controls, an LFO, and an ADSR envelope generator.
The LFO features saw, triangle, and mix waveforms.
In addition to the original features, you get a slight twist with built-in phaser and delay effects.
The resizable interface looks great, including the horizontal drawbars for the Organ section (controlling volume for each octave).
Björn wrote Paralogy in native C++ code for optimal performance and lower CPU consumption.
Full Bucket Music added some lovely factory presets, and you can hear Paralogy in action in the featured demo video.
Coming from Full Bucket Music, it’s no surprise that Paralogy sounds fantastic. Although the original hardware didn’t come on the scene till the early 1980s, Paralogy could provide the perfect soundtrack to every late 1970s and early 1980s cop movie.
The demo video features an original Chase print ad for the Crumar Trilogy available on sale for £799; you’d do well to find a fully functioning unit for less than double that price nowadays.
Paralogy isn’t the first time Full Bucket Music recreated the unique Crumar sound; the popular developer released Bucket One, a Crumar BIT emulation, in mid-2023.
Paralogy is available in AU, VST2, VST3, CLAP, and AAX formats for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows.
