The DynamicX Standard Version (stereo) for macOS and Windows from Sound Magic is now free to download.
Sound Magic is a company that has grown from humble beginnings almost 20 years ago into one of the most prolific developers in the world of virtual instruments and audio plugins.
Sound Magic boasts an extensive catalog of over 4o virtual instruments and a wide range of FX plugins.
Much of that catalog is currently available with huge discounts (up to 84%), and I’ll list a few of the best offers below.
First, let’s get into the freebie.
I believe the DynamicX plugin first appeared around eighteen months ago, give or take a little, with an original price of $99.
DynamicX is an easy-to-use plugin that provides intuitive control over complex or nonlinear dynamics, allowing you to design your own gain reduction curve.
Many developers are vying to lead the way with simple plugins that offer quicker, easier, and more efficient methods than typical compressors and limiters. Waves released its IDX Intelligent Dynamics plugin on Black Friday, 2024.
Sound Magic has just released a follow-up plugin called DynamicX Surround Version, offering up to 7.1 processing.
The pricing structure is now as follows:
- DynamicX Surround Version – $29 during the intro sale, which ends on June 15, 2025 ($99 thereafter).
- DynamicX Standard Version (Stereo) – FREE
I think there was some confusion about whether the freebie was a demo version, but it seems the Standard Version is full and free, while you can download a free demo of the Surround Version.
If you want to add some new instruments to your collection, here are a couple of the biggest discounts and (unsurprisingly) some of my favorites.
The Imperial Grand piano and Rose Whisper collection are available for $49 each (usually $299 each).
The Rose Whisper collection is interesting; it features four Italian grand pianos, three of which are 10ft models. They all have a powerful sound, especially the Basslord model, but they maintain clarity in the mid to high ranges.
You can also get the Neo Composer Pack for $169 (usually $899), featuring piano, guitars, bass, strings, and drums.
