You can now get Wave Alchemy’s Pulse PCM60 Reverb (normally $61) for free with any paid Plugin Boutique purchase until June 30, 2025.
The monthly freebie allows you to buy Wave Alchemy’s emulation of the Lexicon PCM60 digital reverb hardware unit, which debuted in 1984.
Wave Alchemy already has a pedigree with reverb plugins – their free Bricasti emulation called Magic7 was picked as the best free plugin of 2024 by Bedroom Producers Blog readers.
Pulse PCM60 is a macOS and Windows release for VST3, AU, and AAX.
You can see the full terms and conditions on the giveaway page linked below, but the long and short of it is that if you make any paid purchase (as opposed to getting a free product) on Plugin Boutique during June, then you can get your Pulse freebie during the checkout process.
Plugin Boutique provides a six-step guide on the exact process of claiming the freebie on the giveaway page, but it’s pretty self-explanatory for the most part.
The original hardware Lexicon PCM60 is a budget unit with room and plate verbs.

As an early digital verb, the Lexicon PCM60 has a lo-fi, grainy sound, which contrasts with the more natural and clean verbs that originated in the ‘60s.
This distinctive ‘80s sound of the PCM60, therefore, makes it a great character reverb with a punchy sound.
You can hear the Pulse emulation sound on Wave Alchemy’s product page for the verb, which hosts tracks that play dry and then wet recordings on 16 sources.
Pulse includes a Smooth parameter, which allows you to intelligently lower the transient, giving the reverb tail a thicker and darker tone, without compromising the tone of the dry signal.
Note that on the product page writeup, they quite strangely call this feature “Shape,” but on the plugin interface, it’s actually called “Smooth.”
There is also a modulation section with level-dependent filtering. This can be used to add subtle movement and depth, or you can go all out and add lush modulation and lo-fi textures.
Wave Alchemy also provided an automatic volume Duck control, allowing you to keep your reverbs lush while maintaining the integrity of the dry signal.
The developers meticulously sampled a PCM60 to get the entire range of reverb possibilities from the original unit. They then enhanced the dynamic range to add extended noiseless operation beyond what the original is capable of.
To my ears, Pulse definitely delivers a vibey, retro sound that can do great work on any source you throw at it.
As Pulse has such a distinct sound, even if you have several reverbs in your toolkit already, I’d say it could be worth picking up the freebie if you haven’t got this particular type of sound on tap as yet.
It might also be worth mentioning that Pulse is not trying to be a jack of all trades. It has a specific sound character and it does it quite well, but it’s not gonna be suitable for every situation, unless you’re running a synthwave project.
