AudioDeluxe is offering major holiday deals right now, chief among them SSL’s X-Limit and X-Comp plugins, now available for just $9.99 each.
The X-Comp stereo compressor offers a larger reduction, dropping to 90% off its list price of $99. The X-Limit limiter has been reduced by 80% from its $49 list price.
SSL’s X-Limit and X-Comp are both macOS (AU, VST2, VST3, AAX) and Windows (VST2, VST3, AAX) releases.
SSL designed X-Limit to be an easy-to-use limiter that gives clear visual feedback.
The limiter has four preset styles (Transparent, Glue, Punch, and Auto). These styles are designed as a starting point to cover any situation, such as smashing drum buses, catching peaks on guitars and vocals, gluing buses for a unified sound, and running set-and-forget limiting.
The signature Steering and Ducking meters illustrate how limiting affects the stereo image and provide feedback on how to minimize stereo degradation with the Channel Link Control.
SSL made X-Comp a kitchen-sink comp that can cover everything from subtle control for mastering to punchy, bold effects.
While the plugin is not modelled on any particular comp, it was designed to emulate a range of vintage and modern designs, including Opto, FET, and Vari Mu compressors.
X-Limit is still a fairly recent release, having launched in July 2022.
The X-Comp, meanwhile, makes the X-Limit look like a spring chicken, as the X-Comp was launched all the way back in December 2007.
SSL has provided X-Comp compatibility, workflow improvements, and visual enhancements over the years, though I believe the core audio algorithms have remained the same.
The discounts have already been applied to both plugins for all visitors on the Audio Deluxe page, with no coupon needed.
Unfortunately, I found that the additional 10% promo code being advertised at the top of the Audio Deluxe site does not work with either of these plugins, though.
