Wavetick has introduced Sounds on Demand, a new pay-as-you-go model for buying samples that sits alongside its existing storefront and optional subscriptions.
Instead of locking users into a monthly plan, the new system is built around credits that you can buy whenever you need them. Each credit can be exchanged for individual sounds from a curated catalogue, with prices starting at $0.02 per sound when using a subscription, or higher pay-as-you-go rates if you prefer to stay completely flexible.
It’s also worth noting that Wavetick credits never expire, subscriptions can be canceled at any time, and any sounds you download remain yours permanently.
Essentially, the idea behind Sounds on Demand is to keep the convenience of modern sample platforms while addressing common frustrations that come with a subscription-based model. In this case, there is no requirement to commit to a recurring plan, no “use it or lose it” pressure, and (one of Wavetick’s biggest benefits) no recycled loops pulled from overused libraries.
According to the Wavetick team, the catalogue focuses on genre accuracy and smaller, more focused collections rather than sheer volume, with material sourced from independent producers and labels rather than mass-market packs.
This new model lives within the broader Wavetick ecosystem, which is designed as a combined marketplace for tracks, stems, and sounds. Unlike most traditional sample boutique platforms, Wavetick also operates as a rights-aware marketplace.
When you buy something on the platform, the usage terms are clearly displayed, and there’s no need to purchase additional licenses later on. As long as you’re the original buyer, you can use the material within the guidelines of its tier.
Wavetick sells both full tracks and sound packs. Tracks can be used in songs, videos, ads, social media, and even broadcast, with different tiers defining whether and how they can be modified. Some content is created in-house by Wavetick, while other material is uploaded directly by beatmakers and producers, who retain the majority of the revenue from each sale.
If you’re interested in selling your own sounds, it’s good to know that the onboarding process for sellers is super simple, with no upfront fees and a relatively small platform cut.
From a buyer’s perspective, the new Sounds on Demand system doesn’t replace the existing store but basically adds another way to use the platform.
For example, if you only need a handful of specific sounds for a project, you can grab credits and download exactly what you need. If you’re a heavier user, the optional subscription offers better per-sound value without forcing long-term commitment.
