Vicious Antelope just made its Vicious Saws synth (normally $28) available for free download for a limited time via an exclusive Audio Plugin Deals offer.
Vicious Saws is made for creating majestic, gloomy synth tones with a cinematic touch.
Keep in mind that running Vicious Saws requires the full, paid version of Native Instruments’ Kontakt 6.8.0 or higher. There’s no Kontakt Player support, unfortunately.
The full version of Kontakt is a 64-bit only release for macOS (VST3, AU, AAX, standalone) and Windows (VST3, AAX, standalone).
Vicious Antelope states that the freebie deal is only a limited-time offer, although I can’t see a specific expiry date for the offer listed anywhere.
Vicious Saws is made for exploring the darker side of sound design.
The instrument is aimed at producers and film scorers who want to add precision and power to their tracks.
The devs included six SAW oscillators, each with a fine-tuning parameter.
The controls also include a ladder low-pass filter, high-pass filter, delay, reverb, chorus, tube drive, and vibrato via the mod wheel.
Vicious Antelope intended the synth to offer enough options to be able to sculpt the sounds you need, while keeping the interface relatively simple, fostering a rapid workflow.
The library includes 30 presets, totaling 308 MB when unzipped.
Vicious Saws is still relatively fresh off the chopping block, as Vicious Antelope debuted the synth in Feb 2025.
I have to say they’ve hit the mark with regard to achieving dark cinematic sounds.
To my ears, Vicious Saws delivers a retro touch, giving off Stranger Things vibes at certain settings.
The process of getting Vicious Saws is a bit lengthy, as it takes two checkouts on two websites.
Start by heading to the Audio Plugin Deals giveaway page and clicking “add to cart”. Then click through to the Checkout page.
You’ll then need to fill in the mandatory personal information, which is the same info required for making a physical order. I’m not sure what Audio Plugin Deals could possibly need your phone number for here.
You’ll also need to create (or log in to) an Audio Plugin Deals account, which is handled during the checkout process.
After that, hit ‘place order’ and Audio Plugin Deals will email you a link to the Vicious Antelope product page and a promo code.
You’ll then need to go through a similar checkout process at the Vicious Antelope site, where you’ll be able to apply the promo code in the discount code box, and finally get your free synth!
