United Plugins has released TrapTune Core, a free automatic vocal tuning plugin by Soundevice Digital.
TrapTune Core is part of the UnitedFree Bundle, which means you can run it for free through the UnitedPlugins Manager. You create a free account, go to the downloads section, install the manager, and you get access to the free bundled plugins.
The catch is that TrapTune Core is ad-supported. United Plugins says no plugin functionality is limited, but there is a small promotional ad banner at the bottom of the interface.
These are ads for the developer’s own plugins rather than random third-party ads, but I can still see that being annoying for some users.
If you want a clean interface, you can buy the ad-removal license for €7 during the intro offer. The regular price will be €19, which is still much cheaper than the full version of TrapTune, currently listed at €79.
Anyone who already owns the premium UnitedFree Bundle license gets TrapTune Core ad-free automatically. The same applies to existing TrapTune owners, whose full license unlocks the Core version without ads.
By the way, United Plugins released TrapTune Second-Hand Edition back in 2022, which was another free version of the same pitch correction concept. That one lacked many of the controls found in the full plugin and showed them as missing knobs, so TrapTune Core feels like a cleaner approach to me.
Instead of showing a bigger interface with missing or unavailable sections, TrapTune Core has its own smaller interface focused on the controls you need for fast pitch correction. It’s designed to get those trap-style auto-tuned vocals quickly, without digging through the full TrapTune feature set.
The Core version focuses on the Tune-in section from TrapTune. It lets you fine-tune (ha!) intensity and speed of natural tuning, the intensity of hard tuning as an effect, formant control, voice transposing, and the tuning key.
If that’s not enough, the full TrapTune plugin includes additional Second Voice, Distortion, Reverb, and Delay modules. TrapTune Core removes those parts and keeps the pitch correction and vocal shaping side, which should make it lighter and faster to use.

This one is limited, but it’s fine for both natural tuning and hard tuning, especially in hip-hop, trap, RnB, pop, and EDM. You can also start from the included presets to get a feel for the range of sounds.
Other features include intelligent sleep-on-silence to reduce CPU usage when no processing is needed and smart bypass. The protection system uses license files, so there is no iLok or dongle requirement.
TrapTune Core is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats.
