AngelicVibes has released AV Pitchshifter, a free pitch-shifting plugin for macOS and Windows.
We’ve covered a few AngelicVibes freebies on BPB over the years, including Basshead Mini in 2025 and the Free Ambient Female Vocals sample pack back in 2020.
AV Pitchshifter is the first release in the developer’s AV Essentials FX series. I’m wondering if they will all share a similar interface with zero labels. I don’t hate it, but it definitely takes some time getting used to.
The effect itself is cool. You load it on samples, vocals, loops, or full songs, then shift the pitch up or down without digging through a complicated interface.
The plugin has three main controls with zero labels, but it’s easy to figure out. Semitones moves the pitch up or down by 12 semitones, Cents handles fine tuning up or down by one semitone, and Mix blends the processed signal with the dry input.
There are also three pitch modes. Type A is meant for melodies and loops, Type B is smoother for vocals and instruments, and Type C gives you a more basic classic pitch-shift sound.
The overview/manual gives those modes slightly more descriptive names. Type 1 is Studio Shift, Type 2 is Spectral Shift, and Type 3 is Window Shift.
AV Pitchshifter is useful for quick jobs like tuning a loop to fit a project, pitching a vocal take into a different range, or doing the usual resampling tricks, especially if your DAW makes this complicated.
It is definitely not trying to be a deep vocal correction tool or a complex harmonizer. The appeal is more in having a simple pitch-shifting effect that gets the basic job done quickly.
AngelicVibes says it will continue to improve the plugin’s sound, so it may be worth keeping an eye on future updates. The current version is 1.0.1, released on June 18th, 2026.
AV Pitchshifter is free to download, but you need to create a free AngelicVibes account or enter your details to access the download. The product page lists a 100% royalty-free license.
AV Pitchshifter is available in VST3 and AU plugin formats for macOS and Windows. The manual states that it works in all major DAWs except Pro Tools, and the system must be able to run OpenGL.
