Air-G Audio has released Air-G EQ Pedal, a free six-band graphic equalizer plugin for Windows and Linux.
Air-G EQ Pedal is part of Air-G Audio’s Guitar Collection, a growing series of guitar-pedal-style effects built on Chris Johnson’s open-source Airwindows DSP code. We recently covered the same developer’s Air-G Plugins Collection, which brought custom GUIs to 18 Airwindows processors.
This one is based on PearEQ by Airwindows. It uses the same processing engine as Air-G Prism from the larger collection and packs it into a compact, pedal-style interface.
The EQ has six fixed bands: Sub, Bass, Low Mid, Mid, High Mid, and High. Each band has a single gain control, with the center position staying flat, turning right for boost, and turning left for cut.
There are no frequency controls here, so I see it more as a graphic EQ than a parametric equalizer. It uses a subtractive crossover design that splits the signal into six adjacent bands, lets you shape each one, and then recombines them transparently when left flat.
That makes Air-G EQ Pedal useful for quick tone shaping before an amp sim, but it is not limited to guitar. The product page suggests using it on bass, keyboards, pads, drums, vocals, or even full mix buses.
I like the design. It is nice and simple, clean and precise, and it feels like the perfect fit for Airwindows stuff. Airwindows plugins are all about efficient DSP and direct controls, so giving them a visual interface without making things overcomplicated is the right approach, and Air-G pulls that off very well here.
The pedal also includes a true-bypass-style footswitch linked to the host application’s bypass. If you want a more detailed version of the same EQ, Air-G Prism offers a larger interface with a real-time response graph, per-band bypass switches, and precise gain readouts.
Air-G EQ Pedal is free, with optional donations available through Ko-fi. Air-G Audio also points users toward Chris Johnson’s Patreon as the most direct way to support Airwindows.
Air-G EQ Pedal is available in 64-bit VST3 format for Windows 10 or higher and Linux systems with GLIBC 2.35 or higher. There is no macOS version yet.
