Sonniss is giving away two sound effects libraries from 344 SFX until Thursday, September 3: Historical Weapons Vol. 1 and Ultimate Horror – Mini.
We regularly cover Sonniss giveaways on BPB, including the massive GDC 2026 Game Audio Bundle and the recent Pinball Machines library. This offer is smaller but much more focused, with two useful collections for games, films, trailers, and sound design.
Historical Weapons Vol. 1 is a 1.17 GB library containing 80 stereo WAV files. Two professional swordsmen performed duels using several authentic weapons, including an 18th-century court sword, Victorian infantry sabre, High Medieval longsword, Renaissance rapier, and other blades.
The pack includes the stuff you’d expect, such as sword clashes, rings, taps, scrapes, whooshes, and complete fight performances. It also includes battle axe, hand axe, and warhammer impacts against different parts of wooden shields. The flesh impacts were created using those medieval weapons and a watermelon.
The folders separate Flesh Impacts, Shield Impacts, Swords, and Whooshes. The sword section is further divided into general, longsword, medieval sword, rapier, sabre, and small sword recordings, which should make it easier to find a suitable layer without browsing every file.
Recordings were captured from several microphone perspectives using a Sennheiser MKH50, Røde NTG-3, and Line Audio CM4 stereo pair. Each file contains multiple takes, and everything is delivered at 24-bit/192 kHz with embedded UCS metadata.
Ultimate Horror – Mini is much larger at 7.56 GB despite being the condensed edition of a full library. It contains more than 150 mono and stereo files covering risers, drones, jump scares, unsettling atmospheres, gore, blood, bone, and flesh.
There are also creature and vocal effects for zombies, ghosts, demons, and witches. This should provide plenty of raw material for horror games and films, but the more abstract drones, impacts, and transitions could also work well in dark electronic music or cinematic productions.
Ultimate Horror combines designed effects with source recordings. The files are supplied as 24-bit WAV audio at 96 or 192 kHz, depending on the recording, and include embedded UCS metadata.
Together, the two downloads require around 8.73 GB before extraction, so keep that in mind if your storage space is scarce. The high sample rates also make them useful source material for heavy slowing and pitch shifting.
Both libraries are sold with a lifetime royalty-free license, so you can continue using the downloaded sounds after the giveaway ends. You need to claim them from Sonniss before Thursday, September 3.
