LusiD Music UK has released BuzzCut Pro, a mastering limiter and dynamics processor for macOS and Windows, and we are giving away three copies to BPB readers.

BuzzCut Pro is the expanded follow-up to the original BuzzCut erosion clipper we featured earlier this year. I had a lot of fun using that one on heavy bass sounds and in my cinematic sound design workflow.
The headline addition in the Pro version is a limiting system called SlewStep. According to developer LusiD Music UK, it measures how quickly the signal changes at each sample and applies more gain reduction around the fastest transients, where that movement should be harder to hear.
Speed moves the hard stage gradually from clipping toward limiting, Slew controls how strongly the new behavior is applied, and Focus makes high frequencies react faster. The idea is to start gain reduction later and release it earlier when possible, thereby keeping the signal under reduction for less time than a conventional limiter.
BuzzCut Pro also improves the original Erosion system, which moves the clipping threshold using shaped noise instead of keeping it static. The new Smart Erosion mode restricts that modulation to the clipping edges. That creates a more rounded soft-clipping transition without altering the signal between clipping events.
The two processing engines can be blended, morphed, or split across low and high frequency bands with minimum-phase or linear-phase filtering. Each engine can handle compression, clipping, transient shaping, upward compression, Mid/Side saturation, gating, and more.
Restore mode attempts to rebuild flattened peaks from clipped or heavily limited audio. The thresholds can also be unlinked across the positive and negative halves of the waveform to enable asymmetric processing.
The RMS and LUFS auto-gain system helps match the processed output to the original level. There is also true-peak limiting, delta monitoring, dithering, a dry/wet mix, portable presets, full undo and redo, and selectable Low Latency, 30 ms, and 100 ms modes.
BuzzCut Pro costs $99 for a perpetual license with free lifetime updates and two activations. An unlocked 14-day trial is available without an account or payment card, and it continues working in a reduced free mode after the trial ends.
The plugin is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats on macOS, with native Apple Silicon and Intel support. The Windows version comes in 64-bit VST3 and AAX formats. No iLok or third-party license manager is required.
