The TONE3000 plugin has been released for macOS, Windows, and Linux, and it is available for free!
We’ve mentioned the TONE3000 platform plenty of times when discussing other guitar-related releases.
The TONE3000 platform provides access to countless gear models (NAM profiles), and this new plugin makes it more convenient than ever.
The TONE3000 plugin is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux; while the first two might be expected, it’s fantastic to see Linux supported here.
If you’re new to TONE3000, or NAM captures in general, it’s more than just an excellent Marshall JTM45 or Vox AC30 emulation; it’s a complete chain of amps, cabs, pedals, outboard gear, and more.

We know that these models can be outstanding not only in sound but in reactive behaviour, which has been the downfall of emulations in the past.
But it’s the accessibility and ease of use that make the TONE3000 plugin appealing to someone like me.
As I’ve said previously, when covering things like Amplitube or Amp Locker, I’m not a guitarist; if I were making an album in a post-apocalyptic world, a real-life version of Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, I’d still think, “you know what, I’ll give it another few days, I’ll run into a guitarist at some point.”
Unless I’m running a keyboard or electric piano through it, I’ll never buy a hig-end/vintage guitar amp, and plugins like TONE3000 are my entry point into that world and an ideal way for me to fumble demos together.
Even if I were more inclined to buy an expensive guitar amp, we all know that, as bedroom producers, money is typically tight, and we need to spend it where our strengths are.
What makes tools like TONE3000 even better is that they sound so good that great guitarists can easily use them on professional material.
So, it gives guitarists of all levels access to the right tone, and that’s awesome.
In addition to creating the perfect signal chain (including vintage outboard gear), the plugin includes a built-in parametric EQ, a Spread control to widen your tone, and the ability to create an identical or contrasting stereo signal chain.
It also goes much deeper than selecting amp models, etc.; you can load captures of specific settings or different microphones, too.
The plugin version of TONE3000 will be exciting news for lots of bedroom guitarists, and the Linux support is definitely a welcome bonus!
