Beat Magazine is a regular source of good articles, useful tips/guides, and excellent freebies.
Technically, the magazine costs $6, but the content alone is worth that; the bundled software is the icing on the cake.
One of the best things about Beat Magazine is that the bundled freebies cover a wide variety of products.
For example, we looked at a previous edition earlier this year featuring the Sound of Berlin field recording sample pack, and this time, we’ve got AI-powered vocal generation, a beginner’s DAW, and a bunch of samples.
Beat Magazine #249 comes with the Synthesizer V Studio 2 Core by Dreamtonics.
If you haven’t heard of Synthesizer V Studio 2, it generates realistic AI vocals from your melody and lyrics.
Dreamtonics doesn’t share too much information about the Core edition, which is a shame. But it shares the same AI engine as the Pro version.
The downside is that you don’t get the same multi-track workflow, advanced parameter editing, AI retakes, or standalone functionality.
With Core, you choose one voice, which you can use with Pro if you decide to upgrade later.
Despite limitations, it’s a good introduction to the full product and could be ideal for layering backing vocals with limited resources.
Like all AI generation, it’s a slippery slope; I hate the idea of having no human voice, but as a way to enhance lead vocals with AI backing vocals, it could work a treat.
Alternatively, if you can’t sing a note, like me, it could be a handy way to put a demo together.
Since Synthesizer V Studio Core functions as a plugin in your DAW, Beat Magazine provides Cubase LE 15 for anyone just getting started.
