de la Mancha has announced that his Scylla sample playback synthesizer with granular and wavetable features (to name just a few) is now available as a freeware download from his website.
Scylla is a VST instrument that combines sample playback with subtractive synthesis to produce a wide variety of sonic possibilities.
This thing is a monster synthesizer, and that’s putting it lightly. With three different types of oscillators and three built-in samplers, the latest freebie by de la Mancha is certainly a unique offering on the freeware market.
Scylla can do so many things, from standard subtractive synthesis, to granular sample playback, phase distortion synthesis, ring modulation, and so much more. And YES, it can load external audio files as samples, which means that you can pick any sample from your sound library and use it as the sound source for this incredibly versatile synthesizer. Anything from single cycle waveforms to vocal samples will do and the possibilities are virtually limitless!
Adding to all of this goodness, the instrument is delivered with a factory library of 165 original samples. You’ll also find 128 factory presets which will give you a nice head start and a good foundation for processing your own samples with this instrument.
The plugin used to be a commercial product, originally priced at $24 when it was first released back in 2009. You should seriously check out the rest of de la Mancha’s new website too, as many of his old commercial stuff is now completely free to download and use. Last week for example, de la Mancha gave away his unstable FSU tool for free.

A huge thank you goes to dlM for everything he’s done for the audio community. Also, kudos to BPB reader UserFX for spotting another nice freebie and sending the news my way!
