Wilkinson Audio Naked Drums Free Throughout May 2016!

Wilkinson Audio has announced that their premium quality Naked Drums acoustic drum sample library ($60 value) is being offered as a free download by the end of May this year.

That’s a pretty sweet deal if you need some good sounding acoustic drums for use in heavy metal, hard rock and similar “heavy” music styles. Apart from some really nice sounding acoustic drum hits, the library comes with a Kontakt 4 patch which, even though it doesn’t feature any additional controls on the front panel, provides the option to route each microphone individually to different channels in your DAW. This way you can put your favorite effects to good use and mix this virtual instrument like a real drum kit. Currently, the library includes routing presets for Cockos Reaper and Pro Tools. A stereo version of the instrument is also included in case you just want to load the instrument in your DAW and start playing it right away without any additional setup.

The best thing about the Naked Drums library, though, are the included drum samples which sound very nice, as you can hear in the demo video below. The sounds were passed through a couple of Neve preamps and some other fancy studio gear, and captured using high quality Apogee converters. You also get a wide variety of cymbals, five different toms and a couple of snares, so there’s quite a bit of room to tweak this one into your perfect virtual metal drum kit. It’s great news that WAV versions of the samples are also included, so you won’t need the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 4 or 5 in order to take full advantage of the freebie. The library will work in demo mode (with a fifteen minute time limit) in Kontakt Player, but you can load the provided WAV samples in pretty much any other sampler instrument on the market (Grace is a really good freeware one).
