Native Instruments Releases Free TRK-01 PLAY For Reaktor Player

Native Instruments has released TRK-01 PLAY, a freely downloadable kick and bass instruments for Reaktor Player. The company is also offering a $25 voucher to all customers this holiday season.

TRK-01 PLAY is a set of two free Reaktor ensembles which are based on the premium TRK-01 virtual instrument. The freebie kit consists of two separate components named TRK-01 KICK and TRK-01 BASS. The great news is that TRK-01 PLAY is fully compatible with the free Reaktor Player plugin by Native Instruments (the full version of NI Reaktor is not required).

TRK-01 KICK is a two-layer kick drum generator. Each layer can use one of the four available sound source types (sample, synth, noise, or rumble) with adjustable tuning, envelopes, filters, and other specialized parameters. The included kick samples are sorted into six categories (acoustic, analog, digital, percussion, FX, and sub) with the ability to load external samples. The drum synthesis module can cover classic 808 and 909 style bass drums, along with many other more aggressive sounding kicks and percussive noises. The instrument also features a range of kick drum presets sorted into four categories (analog, digital, acoustic, sub) for easy browsing.

TRK-01 BASS is a waveshaping synthesizer optimized for creating bass sounds. It features five different oscillator types (classic, FM, west, super, modern), all of which can be paired with the additional sub oscillator. The instrument also includes two envelopes, an LFO module, and a resonant low-pass filter. The modulation sources can be connected to all the main oscillator and filter parameters (waveform shape and width, sub-oscillator volume, filter cutoff, etc.) with individually adjustable modulation intensity. Some of the additional controls like portamento time and global tuning are available on a separate panel which can be accessed by clicking the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the user interface. Overall, the instrument sounds very good and offers a decent selection of mix-ready bass presets. It is a very capable freeware alternative to Plugin Boutique’s excellent Bass Master synthesizer.

To download your free copy of TRK-01 PLAY, visit the promo page linked below and enter your email address. You will receive an email containing a serial number which should be entered in the Native Access app. Once the serial number is redeemed, TRK-01 PLAY will be permanently added to your NI user account. Please note that you will also need to install the free Reaktor Player (version 6.2.2 or higher) instrument plugin to run TRK-01 PLAY in your digital audio workstation.

On a related note, Native Instruments is offering a $25 e-voucher to all interested customers. Simply apply the coupon code HOLIDAYS2018 at checkout on the Native Instruments website to get the discount. The company is also running a giveaway featuring KOMPLETE 12 ULTIMATE COLLECTOR’S EDITION, a KOMPLETE KONTROL S49, a MASCHINE MIKRO, and the new TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 as the prize. Find more info and enter the giveaway on the Happy Holidays page.

  1. I’ve not had a chance to play w it yet, but I’m still not clear on what the differences are between these two plugins and the original (paid) plugin?

  2. Really loving the TRK-01 Kick module. When you dig deep into the many controls, you can get some really solid kicks out of it.
