Initial Audio Sektor Overview
Sektor is a polyphonic wavetable synth plugin that comes with cutting-edge features while being very CPU efficient. You get options such as drag-n-drop routing, image-based GUI resizing, MPE MIDI support, and a multi-sampler engine. The UI is sleek and customizable, with several skins and colors available for the text and background.
The interface is partitioned into neat sections:
- On the left, there are the sound sources, two wavetable oscillators, a sub-oscillator, and a sampler;
- At the bottom, you can access the keys and the modulation tools;
- On the right, there is an envelope and two filters;
- At the center is the screen where you can switch from among five tabs with various options.
The five screen tabs are:
- Osc+ – Allows you to take control of each of the eight voices allowed per wavetable; this means that on top of the options available on the wavetables, you can change waveforms and other parameters of each individual voice;
- Sequencer – Convenient for making your own melodies and chord progressions within Sektor itself;
- Preset Browser – Access the 700 factory presets and create your own;
- Effect Racks – Includes reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, compressor, distortion, EQ, panner, and trance gate;
- Settings – For skins and modes.
The two filters in Sektor can be set using the controls on the right of the UI, and all the sound sources can use them. The modulation controls are extensive, including 4 LFOs, mod envelopes, matrices, and expression envelopes. The LFOs can be used as both modulation and oscillation tools.
Sektor can use all the expansion packs and instruments that come with Heat Up 3, another popular Initial Audio plugin. This broadens the scope of this plugin’s use significantly.

Sektor is compatible with 64-bit computers and supports VST in the case of Windows and AU and VST for macOS. You can also use the standalone program.
